Safari Top Brain Scratcher

Got the JK a bestop header and safari top. Threw it on and it was all lumpy and wrinkly (not like there were creases, but the fabric appeared to be cut wrong and was tighter on one side than the other). I have done suspension work, turbo work, drivetrain work in the past and this "simple" mod had me wanting to punch myself in the face to distract me from my frustration. Any tips or tricks that you have used for such a project. Also it had cinch straps that were to be tucked behind the door seals but the strap was would not fit. Are you supposed to remove the door surrounds? I give up

This is not going to help at all...but I bought the same setup for a 2009 2 door. It fit so poorly that I never left the driveway with it installed. I sold it on Craigslist because the store didn't want to take it back. The kind, poor soul who bought it ended up fighting with the store I bought it from until they took it back. Really too bad because I had one for my TJ and it worked/fit beautifully.

Not that it is too helpful but the Safari top that is part of the Bestop NX fits pretty good. Got to wonder about their quality assurance sometimes. Some tops have no issues while others don't. But then too the NX Safari top comes with a Sunrider feature so it has a center support so to fold back the sunrider.

So i gave it another go with some extra hands and this is what i came up with.

1). The side cinch straps are 2 inches too close to the front of the jeep and prevent me from shutting the door or touching the door paint. (i started by doing the rear straps first to try to make this problem disappear by making a taunt top... it didn't work).

2). The flap that wraps around the sport bar is 3/4" too big causing a bunch in the fabric above the connection point.

3). There is a 2 1/2"x 1/2" gap at the very front of the door surrounds (very poor fit and finish).

Moral of the story. I need to do more research prior to purchasing items for the JK.

I know it is more costly, but the Mopar Sun Bonnet is supposed to be great. It is twice the cost of the Bestop safari setup and half the cost of the NX full top.

I have found Bestop to be garbage, via 3 product purchases...
