Sahara body colored top and fender flares

Good afternoon all,
I recently has the opportunity to upgrade from my Sport to a Sahara. Salesman is a good friend of mine and said the dealership owner just wanted to get the Sahara off the lot. It was white on white withe blacked out rims. It looked pretty nice, but I just couldn't get around the white on white.
I was just curious as to what others thought of the body colored tops and flares on the Sahara's. If it would have had a black top, I would have seriously considered it.

Not a fan.

I've said it here many times, I enjoy Michigan seasonal roads that lead to less fished water, major reason for the jku. Those trails would scratch the hell out of painted flares.

Aside from that I really like the look of the black flares and black top.

at least they don't fade.

it depends on the color. some look good, some don't. I prefer the all white myself. I liked my Willys black/firecracker red combo, but I also really like my current all CGM combo.

I used 3m protective film on the painted fenders. it helps with the scratching and rock dings.

I have a Sahara in Anvil, and I like the color matched fenders. However, I have the standard black textured hard top. I think full color matched with Anvil is too much color. White on white with black wheels does look good though.

I have the body colored hard top and fenders on my Rubicon. So, I am bit biased when I say it can look great. :happyyes:

The "body color" has a harder surface so it is more difficult to scratch then the textured black. However, once scratched, it is more difficult to repair.

My opinion: I think black fenders and a black top on a non-black body looks more sporty and less boring than all one color. That is one reason why I wasn't interested in a Sahara

However, for those who live in hot parts of the country such as the desert southwest, a white top would really cut the solar heat gain to the cab.

It's all about what you like. I see Big-dog1's avatar above and think, "Wow that would look great with body color fenders and a red top!" and well, that's what I ordered. Others will think it's too much. I love that we have the option but most of all, that we're all respected within the jeep community whether you want to blend in, stand out, prioritize form or function.

I like my color matched Jeep. I do not have to worry about getting wax all over the black parts, the black parts scratch just as easy and show it (so that cancels that out imo), and if I want to change it up it is easy to add black accents, but not as easy to add colored accents. It also stands out in a sea of non color matched Jeeps.

All white

Not all white

Was ready to jump in and say "no way to full color match" until I saw your rig. Very sharp! But I think this is because I'm biased towards black and white. If some neutral color or metallic I prefer the contrast of the black top/fenders.

Regarding the Sahara in question, if all the rest is what you want, just replace the hardtop with ragtop and get a cheap set of take-off black fenders if you change your mind. This is one of the great things about Wranglers that no other car can offer...can always make it into what you want, it's just a matter of $$$

I like the painted, think it looks fine, as I also think non painted are fine. If its the same price then consider it even. You'll come out ahead if a local member wants to trade or buy it etc. You can enjoy it as it is and scratch it with no worries, or you'll end up selling it in the future to fund your next round of mods.
My wife really likes the look of the painted so, whatever makes her happy.
You'll never know when I leave the top in the garage.

I used to have a Sahara in Red Rock Pearl. I didn't really notice them, but it was a darker color, sort of metallic maroon, so it didn't really stand out anyway. It also had a black top, so the color wasn't everywhere.

When I ordered my Rubicon I got white with black top and fenders because it just seemed like that would have been a whole lotta white.

I too am a fan of a completely color matched JK.

I sold my white flares, bought a black OEM (non-painted) set and had them covered with Bedliner.

I needed more contrast.

I usually ride with the black soft top, but one of these days I'm gonna hit the white hard top with bedliner.

Got to have a painted roof. The flares don't matter and prefer unpainted plastic till I get painted flat fenders. All red looks great to me.

YOU either like it or you don't, doesnt really matter what anyone else thinks. Your gonna have opposing opinions either way. I ordered mine all white. I feel like I see black top/fenders everywhere so setting my jeep apart a little from the norm appeals to me. Plus I personally like the painted look better. :)
