Sahara unlimited - tires

I've recently purchased and imported to Israel an Sahara 2008 (Unlimited). I've got 33''X12.5X18 tires on it, but I've got problems to finalize the importing process as these tires are considered "not what the manufacturer recommend" from the vehicle and transport office here in Israel... Is there an official site that can tell whether there is any safety problem with this wheel size? or on the other hand, is there a site where I can show here that these tires/wheels are actually common practice/standard and that there is no issue with them?

Did you buy new or used? I'm guessing used since the tires you have are not the stock tires. In my owners manual, page 327, it says "The manufacturer strongly recommends that you use tires equivalent to the originals...." and "Failure to use equivalent replacement tires may adversely affect the safety, handling, and ride of your vehicle". But everybody knows that it's common to replace with larger tires. I suggest you phone the Jeep customer service and ask if they can give you some kind of letter that says the tires you have are ok, or have a local tire shop give you something that says the tire and wheel combination is safe. If the vehicle and transport off there goes by the book though, you may find yourself having to buy new tires. A friend of mine recently imported a used vehicle from Japan to Canada and had to buy all new tires because the (new) tires that were on it didn't have the official Transport Canada approved stamp. Good luck.

You won't find anything to support the 33's.
I'd suggest that you buy a set of take-off OE wheels/tires, mount them, import your rig, and ship the 33's separately as "parts" for offroad use only.
Gone camping,
