salesman bit my offer?

I offered $24,616, but he's saying $24,616 + tags.

I still haven't told him about my trade in.

Very nice...now whatever number you've been given on your trade...i think $4000...tell them you've been offered $4600 by a competing local dealer but you'd rather deal with them if they can match it because you like them. You will likely get a lower number initially but hold your ground and don't move far off $4600 knowing you have $4000 in your back pocket.

If it is clean put it on Craigs list. You won't have any trouble selling a low mileage Honda to a private party.
If it has a clean car-fax and has not been crashed or otherwise damaged it will sell fast. Get the dealer locked into a trade price then advertise it on CL for $1000 more then the offer and the closer it gets to picking up your new vehicle start dropping the price $100 a day until you are at the dealer trade price. I have done this many times and have always come out ahead.

They'll give you 4500 for that for sure, and then they'll then around and make 1500 on it as long as its in good shape... Keep stressing the low mileage.

Glad you are excited...hopefully you can land it. But we don't need a new thread for each update.

OP, what's the specific Wrangler you are looking at? Have a pic from the lot? Try to get the most for your trade as you can. Refrain from buying add-ons like rustproofing, ex warranty and the like. It's a waste of money.

Sticker price, sales price, finance terms, fees, TT&L, etc. There's a lot more that goes into determining a deal than just the sales price. What are the details?

Ok, we need some details Amie. Fill in the blanks.

MSRP -
Sales Price -
Less Trade Value -
Final Price -
Dealer Fees/Misc Fees -
Gov't Fees (Tax, Title, License) -
Finance Terms (# of Months @ ? APR) -

Only THEN can we tell you if you are getting a good deal or not.

Not trying to be d _ _ k, but I'd take a second and pause here and ask yourself if you know the difference between OTD and MSRP. I believe 3 people on this thread have asked for the msrp, which is the easiest number to ascertain. Folks just tryin' to help you land a good deal.

OTD, including all fees + taxes. $24,616 (not including trade in) so $20,616

MSRP is at 26,687. Not including fees + taxes.

Much better deals out there ie... http://m.davidstanleydodge.com/detai...?stock=JP23334

Could fly out, drive home and sell car local for more than trade and come out a couple grand ahead.
David Stanley in OK City has great deals. A base with ac and auto only goes about 22k

Agreed... I've got a general idea, because of your other threads, on what you're buying and agree that you can get a better deal. That sounds very close to MSRP. I think you're about to waste a few thousand dollars.

I know you're new at this, but slow down. You don't need act this fast.
You're going to jump into an average to below average deal.

Look at Zerin's question. If you can't fill in all those blanks, you're getting taken for a ride. It appears that you need to do a lot more homework.

And they could fly a car out to any location? Hm... I checked their website, found this.

Mobile Car Dealer Website - David Stanley Dodge

Must be a typo on price?

No offense, but I'm starting to wonder if you're serious.
Even if you found a Jeep in Texas or Oklahoma, if it's $2500 cheaper, you will save money to fly out and pick it up yourself, or pay to have it shipped...

The Jeep you're looking at is not that great of deal. Keep looking.

Sell the Civic on your own. It will sell in oine day and you'll get considerably more money. You need to sell it for at least 8% more than the dealer to break even. (No tax on trade in). NADA clean puts that care as retail over $6k. I'd start at $5,900 and let them work you down another 500.

Not bothering... glad you're here to learn.

Just make sure you can fill in all the blanks of Zerin's post... then put them here and we can help you evaluate your deal.

Just go buy the wrangler you've already found and already have your heart set on. Be done with it and enjoy. The time and stress you'll save by not worrying about this can't be measured in dollars but trust me, its there.

Get the wrangler and start living the rest of your life.

Sorry man... Not good advice IMO. She obviously doesn't have money to burn and she may leave $3-$6K on the table with this deal... her trade is undervalued and she's paying way too much for the Jeep.

Okay, the following info is for a Wrangler Sport (base)
Features: A/C, soft top, automatic trans.

MSRP - $25975
Sales Price - $23596
Less Trade Value - $4000
Final Price -
Dealer Fees/Misc Fees - $589
Gov't Fees (Tax, Title, License) -1640.09
Finance Terms (# of Months @ ? APR) - still haven't gotten to the finance terms

I think these are the correct numbers. I have too many emails between dealerships.

So back in 2009 Toyota had incredible savings on their FJ Cruisers, within the southeast region. No dealer in Chicago could come close the prices in the southeast. I ended up purchasing it from a dealer in NC for $3k less then any dealer in Chi-town. I spent $120 on a one way ticket and drove it back. To me, TOTALLY worth it.

This approach isn't for everyone, but worked for me. I will probably end up doing it again for a wrangler.

There ya go. Have they shown you the invoice?
If yes or no, have you gone onto edmunds and calculated it? With your Tread Lightly, you should be at least 1% below invoice. (With the right dealer you can get 3% or more below)

As for the trade, you can do way better. That is where they are making even more money off of this deal. Obviously, they have to make some money, but let's keep it to a minimum.
Calculate your "retail" value for the trade and get as close to that as possible. Don't accept less than the "trade in" value. From my guestimate, you should get at least $5,000 for that trade.

There we go. What's your tax rate in FL? If you trade, don't forget to take the tax credit into account. What that means is you are only taxed on the Sales price MINUS whatever they give you for your trade. I still think you can do better on that trade, so keep at it.
