Samsung Galaxy s4 and Uconnect 430N

I'm upgrading to a new Samsung s4 phone. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this device and Uconnect 430N. Called Uconnect they said the phone is too new, called Samsung and they said it "should work". Was hoping someone here may have some first hand experience
Thanks

Mine works fine with the 730n. I know that doesn't really answer your question, but I can't imagine they are that much different.

I'm using a Galaxy S4 with Uconnect and a 130 pos and it works flawlessly. You will be fine with the better HU.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and the 430N works great. A helluva a lot better than my Thunderbolt ever did...

Any specific questions you're looking to have answered???

I'm moving from an iPhone 4S to the Samsung s4. My iPhone works well enough no issues using Uconnect voicee commands etc. Hoping that the Samsung will work as well. Also I have a lockpick CHR 550 which I'm having installed this week. So I've been told that the iPhone and the Lockpick work well together and there is a bunch of funcionality that's increased. Hopefully the Samsung will have the same increased funcionality.

Can't answer any questions regarding the Lockpick but I now get indication of texts through the stereo. UConnect now allows me to retrieve texts verbally from the GS4. Also, podcast information is now sent to the "info" display on the headunit.

No problems at all with syncing up. I'm currently playing with the location function of the phone so now the phone knows when I'm in the Jeep and acts accordingly.

Did you have to adjust any phone settings to get the phone to do all that?

Settings > More > Location Services > My Places

From here, I created a "Place" for "Car" and set it up to recognize the Jeep's bluetooth connection.

I believe that doing this the phone now tells the head unit when text messages come in. I haven't played around with it to see what else it does.

Thanks for the information. I should be getting my phone either today or tomorrow. I'll have to give it a try. Interested in seeing how the texting thing works as well as accessing music on the device

Just chiming in on this old thread because after searching all over the place, this was the first place I found the answer. Doing the "my places" steps above SOLVED this issue for me. I had tried a bunch of other solutions to no avail. Thanks for the tip!!

When you say it "works fine" do you mean it will pick up and read text messages? Mine doesn't. Took it to AT&T and tried nearly every new phone that was coming out a few months back and none of them would read texts. Ended up getting the S4 and when I went to the dealership asked them to get it to work. Was told the 730N will not read texts. Contacted Jeep and they told me that newer phones will not work without an update to the headunit. The company that makes the headunit has no interest in updating it.
If you got yours to work how did you do it?

Edit:
For the OP Yes, the S4 should work fine with the 430N. The S4 supports all the relevant standards. Plus, the 430N gets it's updates differently and actually gets support where the 730N relies on the headunit manufacturer to do it.

I have the S4 with a 130 and recently I've had some trouble with it. I hit the call button to make a call and the call rings for 2 rings, then the 130 unit drops the call while the call continues to occur on the actual phone. It is annoying as hell. I've unpaired and repaired the phone which fixed it short term, but it's come back. Dont know what to do :/

I have a S3 with the same issue on the 130 unit. I am unaware of a solution so I pull over to use the phone which is inconvenient but safer.

Nitroz680, have you tried adding your Jeep Bluetooth connection to your phone's "My Places" settings? That fact that this seemingly unrelated setting resolved my issue is the only reason I revived this old thread (since the original poster didn't ever follow up saying if it worked or not).

BigWreck, I must have missed your post, sorry about that! Thanks for getting back to me. I'm going to try this when I get back to the Jeep. I'm on a business trip right now and had to make some calls in the Jeep and it was failing to remain connected, very frustrating...

I have the Galaxy S3 and 130 radio, and it works great. Phone pairs with the Jeep automatically as soon as I get in, and I can receive and send texts through the radio. Only annoying thing is when I receive a text, it can't tell me who it's from, just says "No number available". But it still reads the text out.

I have the S4 and it works great with Uconnect. Music actually sounds better when I stream it BT than when I use the radio/sat/cd

I'll guess that you are on a CDMA network such as Sprint or Verizon, correct. This isn't an issue with Uconnect. It's with the phone & network. When the message is sent thru the network, the phone # is supposed to include +1 within the number body. However the +1 is not included, so there is an error sent from Uconnect to the phone. Uconnect can't look up the contact name without all the information. The same phone that is on a GSM network (such as AT&T or T-mobile) does give the name of the contact when an SMS is rec'd.

you won't be able to stream audio thru BT, that feature didn't become a supported feature till 2011. There are adapters that you can plug into AUX jack and stream to it, like in the link below:

Looks like Android Kit Kat 4.4 is coming out soon for Verizon, and is already released for some US carriers. I am wondering if the updated operating system will alleviate the "phone call complete" problem....

I have a Verizon LG Android phone running 4.2.2 software, and I have not had any issues with my 430N.

I have a GS4 (T-mobile) and the Uconnect 430n. Everything is working as it should except when it read text message, it's always from "No number". My phonebook is imported cause it will show name on screen with incoming calls. Any ideas on how to fix this if there's even a fixed for it?

I just upgraded from the S3 to the S5 last week...but I still have the same problem that I had with the S3. It is almost like what everyone else described....except, both of my phones had no problem dialing a number using the voice commands, but if I try to make a call using the phone contacts it doesn't even connect for 2 rings. The phone just makes the call without connecting to uconnect, and the radio never gets interrupted.

The odd thing is, sometimes it will work with other verizon numbers being dialed from the contacts, but if I try to dial a 1-800 number from my contacts it never works.

No it doesn't fix the "phone call complete" problem. I was waiting for the update wondering the same thing. I have the 130 and it's annoying. Other problems I have is that getting in and out of the car it doesn't transfer to the phone or the uconnect system flawlessly. I'm going to try and setup a places and see if that fixes my issues tonight. I'll edit with my findings. From others it seems like that will fix it.

Edit: I should specify that I have the glaxay s4 on verizon.

Can you explain the issue a bit more about transferring calls? Thanks
