Satin Black Grille on a Black Wrangler

Hey everyone, just want to say this is my first time posting here on Wrangler Forum and I'm excited to be a part of the community here! Last week I picked up my 2014 black stick shift sahara wrangler and I'm thinking about adding the mopar satin black grill so it has a more rugged look to it but my only concern is that since my Wrangler is black I may not be able to see a difference between the grille i have now and the mopar satin black one. I'm not a chrome guy but if they had a black chrome grille that'd be awesome...anyone have any ideas on what i should do to the grille to make it stand out more but not too much?

Thanks

Welcome and congrats on the new Jeep. Only advice I can give you on the grill is to leave like it is.

Thanks Palmetto! Do you recommend any other mods? I got the Wrangler in black cuz imo it's the nicest color on a car but it seems like there aren't many options when it comes to customizing it especially if you don't like chrome.

Congrats on your new jeep. I would keep the grille as is as someone already mentioned, also not a fan of chrome.
As far as other mods, you can do:

- AntennaX shorty antenna,
- Mopar gas door cover,
- Mopar rubber door seals,
- Rock rails,
- Welcome Distribution Grabars,
- Quadratec Ultimate Floor Liners,
- Fire extinguisher and First Aid Kit.
- Truck-Lite headlights

The list just goes on and on. Good luck.

Leave the grille alone and replace the chrome Jeep letters on it with matte black ones.

Well I was thinking of doing something that looked a little more matte on the grille for a little texture contrast. I do like Seaker's suggestion about replacing the silver jeep letters with black ones. And Moonrider those suggestions about how I can customize my wrangler are awesome...I was thinking about putting some off-road lights as the stock wrangler lights aren't very bright but i'm not sure they're street legal.

Then you will definitely like the Truck-Lites. There are not just offroad lights, they are street legal, you just replace stock head lights with much better lights and plus they look cool. You can grab them at Northridge4x4.com. They have a package deal with a PMA harness for anti flicker purpose for $419.99. I've only heard good about them. Ordered a pair recently, installing them tomorrow.

On a picture you can see stock light vs Truck-Lite. Also, Truck-Lite's give out clear white instead of stock yellow light.

Moonrider definitely let me know how the trucklites come out and how much clearer you can see the road...even though they seem pricey it may be worth it.

I did a lot of research, talked to multiple people regarding Truck-Lites and they all said best investment they did for the Jeep.

Wow thanks 85CJ! It looks fantastic! I'm so happy that I came to this site cuz it seems like everyone here helps each other out. And Moonrider I'll take your word on the trucklites. I can't stand not being able to see at night...It'd be cool if wrangler's would come with xenon's but then it wouldn't be a wrangler then...lol

- AntennaX shorty antenna
One of the only "modifications" on the forum that is worse then stock.
- Mopar gas door cover
Unnessecary and anoying
- Mopar rubber door seals
The jeep is a 2014, seals are so good, that most people complain about shutting the doors...
- Rock rails
Rubi owners take of the stock rock rails, because they ain't..
- Welcome Distribution Grabars
Better ones out there, this is just the bandwagon favorite
- Quadratec Ultimate Floor Liners
Definetely better out there
- Fire extinguisher and First Aid Kit.
Good suggestion for all, just make sure you get a good mount for the extinguisher, those things are hazards in a wreck
- Truck-Lite headlights
New headlights are nearly a must for a jeep. People seem happy with the quality and price point of the trucklites.

Yea, no chrome for either. I agree with Moonrider and lowrumble, these are good low cost mods that I have also been looking at doing. Another is a satin hood decal I found on Ebay, link below.

Jeep Blackout Hood Decal Matte Black Out Fits Jeep Wrangler JK 07 13 | eBay

Well some of what lowrumble said. I like the gas door and have read about members not having any issues with antennax antennas. However I have read that the addition of door sill guards may produce leaks. No fire extinguisher for me but I like the first aid kit. And I certainly agree that the head lights need addressing.

I would wait a while and get a sense of what it is you really want to do, rather than just adding aftermarket..I think the flat black grill would be a good start. I picked a color from my logo to go with on my Jeep......but the possibilities are endless to kind of personalize it.The process will def clean out your pockets that's for sure.

How did you do the rims? Are they painted?

I think you can get rim pinstripes online. Painted would probably hold up better to trail though.

Man, this forum is awesome. There are countless things I now want to do. Get the satin black grille, and new led trek lites. I might get a new exhaust. Anyone know of any dual exhausts that are worth purchasing that don't sound like ricer when you accelerate? lol

He said he wanted to make his grill look more rugged. IMO plasti dip makes it look more rugged than the factory gloss look.

Another idea is to pick a color that you like and start using it in small places on your jeep as accents. Really any color besides navy blue would look great with black. (I chose red accents lol) Its the small inexpensive things that make your jeep stick out from the others and make it yours.
