2 dr 2015 JK sport with 33 x 12.5 x 15 general tire grabbers. 52,000km. Pulling out of a church I had to stop quicky as a car came speeding around a bend that I didn't see..my brakes didn't work like normal and felt very "floaty" Is best way I can describe. They worked very slowly and I almost didn't stop. It did this the next time I tried to brake again. After parking for a hour and driving again all seems normal and brake are responsive. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Interesting. Not in a good way. Something similar happened to my 2015 JKU. I noticed it after it had been sitting untouched for 2-3 days in cold weather. It self corrected itself once warmed up. Were your brakes hot? Did you just come down a hill? Was the Jeep sitting for days before driving ?

I had driven it the night before and this morning on my way to my location. I was at the location for about an hour and a half then drove and noticed it immediately. It may have been a slight down hill brake but nothing crazy. It wasn't that cold today around freezing temp.

I've had the same thing once. Was getting ready to pull out of a parking lot. Hit the brakes at the stop sign and they went to the floor and the jeep came to a stop very slowly. Has not done it since. At least I know I'm not the only one it happened to.

Have any of you messed with your vacuum pump, for example moving it or unplugging it for installation of aftermarket bumpers? Or winch? I wonder if it loses connection it has to reset itself someway. When it happened to me I had just unplugged and plugged it back in temporarily the day before. I didn't move it or disconnect the hoses, only the electrical harness.

Lots of useless input (mine would be as well If all I did was provide anecdotal evidence of a similar occurrence).
Hopefully HERE is some useful input - IT'S YOUR Brakes, They Malfunctioned, Get Your Jeep to a Brake Specialist Before You Kill yourself or worse - Someone Else.

Jeezus.

32,000 miles in 1 year? I hope you've taken it in at least once or twice for some form of maintenance. If you do your own maintenance make sure you check the pads every 15K miles..

I have 20K on my 2013.. The pedal can feel spongy at times just off idle .. don't know why, but it just does it. On the other hand, I've had to stand on my brakes a few times when traveling between 30-40 mph and it stops like a champ. I've had it sideways, tires growling and straightened right up.. I was amazed. I also had a close call a few weeks back as I was on a wet surface.. Stood on the pedal and it modulated itself to a safe stop.. Again, I was like wow, ABS is working.

The JK has the beef.. just not sure what this low rpm/idle thing is all about..

My Chevy does it too, but that has hydro-assist..

I don't do my own maintenance but it goes to the dealer for oil changes and regular checks every 5k km. I've been diligent with my appointments.

Depending on the nature of the miles that amount may represent the end of life for those brakes. Jeeps chew on brakes especially rears with the he BLD.
Fronts normally get eaten on all relatively heavy vehicles.

I meant the story as a scary no brakes moment, not as a theory as to what happen to his. If he has problems don't drive ,tow it in to be checked. It is a good warning to people who lift their vehicle's, Brakes are more important than the get up and go....
