seat belt retraction

I think I have seen references to this on the forum. My driver's seat belt doesn't retract completely when I unbuckle and exit the vehicle. I'm constantly shutting the door on the buckle. I have had other vehicles do this after about 125,000 miles but never 5,000. Can these be tensioned to prevent this? Planning to check with my dealer this week but thought I'd ask the forum first. It gets irritating after a while.

same problem on both sides for me, 2012. Also, I hate how it gets caught on the recliner handle, ALL THE TIME.

Happens to me too. The belts are supposed to be pre-tensioned but it doesn't seem like enough.

That's the way they are. You have to help it along to fully retract. If you keep closing the door on the webbing you'll eventually damage it. When I exit I make sure it's retracted and along side the seat. It takes a couple of seconds. I have other vehicles that do the same thing so it's not only Chrysler; everything from an old YJ to a Nissan and Mini Cooper, all the same.
