Seat Cover Options - What are you running?

There are consolidated threads for tires, lifts, bumpers, etc. so I'd like to make a thread about seat covers. As with many folks, I have shelled out bucks for seat covers only to find they fade, tear, fit poorly or just plain didn't like them so I'm hoping to save myself and others time and money.

I know seat cover selection is based on numerous factors. One person wants something waterproof and isn't concerned about getting a sweaty rear. Another person is more concerned with fit than if the seats fade quickly. Additionally, there are people that want something cheap while someone else just wants the best, no matter what the cost.

I'd like to see covers rated by 4 main areas:

  • Your opinion on the fabric (Neoprene, polyester, canvas, cloth, faux leather, etc.)
  • How well do they fit?
  • How long do they last?
  • Cost?
Also, some pros and cons would be helpful. Additionally, would you recommend them?

Please keep comments polite and remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Thanks.

Iggee

I just installed the Iggee Synthetic Leather covers. I can't speak to longevity but they look great. Still need to work out a few wrinkles but I'm super impressed with how they look already. Only thing negative is that they didn't send me enough of the little metal clips to finish the installation. I'll have to make a run to Ace Hardware.

I had Iggee covers on my old 2002 Lexus ES300 for a few years. They were so great that I immediately ordered a set for my 2009 JK that I just bought. The stock seats were gray fabric. This is the new look:

Iggee sends you a couple of matching seat belt pads as well (mine are blue, but can't be seen in the photo). I use one of them on the drivers side, but the other fits perfectly on the glove-box grab bar which really is super-awesome.

I am looking at the Tek covers. Saw them on ATX14's jeep and thought they were awesome. Any tips on where to get the best price? At 300$, every penny counts. Thanks for any tips.

Anyone have experience with Shear Comfort seat covers or covers made from Cordura? Looks durable and they can be made in a dark blue or dark red/burgundy color which I like (superman freak here). I have parachord grab handles that are in this color so would blend in.

Anyone?

I called them today actually for a swatch. I want blue and black covers. We received Iggee swatches but to dark but nice material!

Just read threw this entire thread. To sum it up for future readers the general point is

Wet Okole seat covers seem to cause swamp ass but hold up and look great.
Trek Armors are just all around the best.
Coverkings look great but dont have the durability.

with that being said...

I want seat covers to match my Orange Crush jk. The better water resistent they are the better and i need them to stop pet hair. the wet okoles seem to have the closest match but i would prefer the Treks.

Does anyone have pictures of the Orange Treks? More pics of the wet Okoles would be good too. Does anyone get swamp ass in iowa with the wet okoles or is that just a southern US thing?

I got swatches from Wet Okole and bartact. Neither match close enough for Crush Orange. It's close in the shade or on a cloudy day. But not at all in the sun.

Wet Okole = neoprene. If you like to go topless a lot... it will eventually fade (less than a year) if not properly taken care of. I never owned wet okole, but I've owned my share of swim suits and they fade very very quickly.

I'm sure either brand will hold up very great sliding out of the jeep.

Ive had Bartacts before and my current jeep has Marathon. Same material as bartacts and much more affordable. I highly recommend them.

I'll take a look at them. I have a hard top so I didn't go topless this past summer (when I got the jeep) due to taking it off and in all the time. I'm hoping to get a soft top though this spring. But I also want a rear bumper. I'lll have to pick and choose what I want this year and probably hold off on the rest till next.

My wife is a very good seamstress. She made our own. The backs never are an issue getting dirty in our vehicles so she just made the seat part.
You would never know they are not part of the original order. Cost about $6. for black seat cover material at a fabric shop.
She even made a pocket bag for the back of the passenger seat.

@gone2, that looks awesome.
I was looking hard at them for seat covers. But then the wife saw Bartact seat covers at the Bantam Jeep thing and loved their custom colors. Plus they are freaking HD, and they were there. Although the covers still had to be ordered and we still had to wait a month or so.
Anyway, those Wet Okole covers look great. Based on the color combo my gut says you did not need to add the electric heat option.....

We looked at Bartact. I like them better physically, but they didn't quite have the color she wanted. We had Wet Okole sent us swatches of "Teal" and "Turquois" so she get the closest match. It probably took about a month to get them after we ordered. I'm actually concerned they may be a little too hot when summer comes back around.
