There are consolidated threads for tires, lifts, bumpers, etc. so I'd like to make a thread about seat covers. As with many folks, I have shelled out bucks for seat covers only to find they fade, tear, fit poorly or just plain didn't like them so I'm hoping to save myself and others time and money.
I know seat cover selection is based on numerous factors. One person wants something waterproof and isn't concerned about getting a sweaty rear. Another person is more concerned with fit than if the seats fade quickly. Additionally, there are people that want something cheap while someone else just wants the best, no matter what the cost.
I'd like to see covers rated by 4 main areas:
Your opinion on the fabric (Neoprene, polyester, canvas, cloth, faux leather, etc.)
How well do they fit?
How long do they last?
Cost?
Also, some pros and cons would be helpful. Additionally, would you recommend them?
Please keep comments polite and remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
They are neoprene and haven't noticed them getting hot, but then I run topless as much as I can.
Fit perfect, very tight and secure
I've had them 9 months and they haven't faded and the stitching is secure
$130 for the pair.
They are neoprene and are good but hard to get on and off to wash and they don't cover the whole seat. I like the fact that they have pouches and pockets on the side and rear. I'd recommend them to anyone that has seats they aren't worried about getting dirty where the seat vest doesn't cover.
In the rear, I have Covercraft Seat Covers
They ase canvas abd are tough.
They fit okay but only cover the font of the seat and the back is exposed
The stitching is okay but they faded after only a month or two with the top down.
$121 for the back seats (4-door)
They looked good for a while but they faded quickly and the fit is now just so-so. I would only recommend them to people that want to have something over the seats to protest them from kids or pets. I wouldn't recommend them for anyone concerned about looks.
I've only had them about a month and a half, so can't comment on length, but have heard nothing but great things about them.
Kinda spendy; $290 per row (front or back) from TA itself. I think you can find discounted sets at Northridge4x4 ($520 for both right now).
Pros: Very sturdy material; from their website: "highest grade waterproof polyester." There's a MOLLE system on back of each piece, and each comes with one bag per seat (so 3 bags total if you get front and back rows). Really clean look.
Cons: The only real con for me was the install. They are so tight, and I had to struggle to feed the material through the seat back on all pieces. Some sort of tool is needed to shove the pieces through (I used the grip end of some pliers so as not to mess up the material). A con for those with side airbags, they do not make covers for these.
These pictures were taken right after install, so wrinkles from packaging hadn't been worked out yet. I have black with graphite inserts.
Front:
Back of the front seat:
Back row bench (I have my rear headrests folded back for better rearview, but they come with covers for those as well):
[*]Fit is awesome; super tight.

"DirtyMudders" I have 2 sets I liked them that well. Easy install, easy cleaning as they are made from the fleece material like a "Hoodie". (had 3 different sets of neoprene "swamp butt")
I am surprised no company has picked up on them, since she doesn't do many if any covers any more.....If you get a chance grab some "DirtyMudders."
I went a bit of a different route with my seat covers. I opted for Spacer Mesh - Black and Grey from Cover King. I've had them for about 2 months now and no complaints.
The fit I give a 4.5/5
Durability - I'll update down the road if people are interested in them. So far as I said, no issues.
Price - Was $350ish for the whole set.
I have to wait for the summer to truly test them out.
I really like the Trek Armor. JPI (my mod shop and forum sponsor) has them and I love how they look + all the handy attachments you can get for them.
One thing that would make me avoid them though, is that I read you can't use them if you have the side air bag. Definintely a deal breaker. I don't want to die because I have cool seat covers.
i ordered the trak armor seat covers just a few days ago and they are coming with 4 free trek armor grab handles. thats a $40 value plus the free shipping. still kinda pricey compared to the other seat covers but with all the good reviews i read about them i think its worth it.
once i get them installed, ill post pics and my own review as well.
The first thing I did was order a set of AEV cordura covers and I'm very happy with them. Forget the cost but that can be found on their site. They fit great. I don't like the Velcro bottom straps as they all go to the back making the side ones turn 90 degrees. I will add some loop pieces under the seats so the straps can just meet in the middle. Right now some are not attached but the covers aren't loose or sliding around so I haven't worried so much about adding the loop piece I intend to make. The covers do not come with head rest covers, they have to be purchased separately. I plan on adding the rear seat cover sometime soon if I don't just remove the rear seat.
Mine are water proof (neoprene) and I like them. they are pretty tight and therefore a little difficult to install but not that big a deal. I've only had them for a month but it was the 1st thing I bought for my 2013 JK. I also bought a pair for my 370Z a few month prior. Both were custom built for your car (see website) and therefore will take about 6 weeks after order. Cost for the Jeep both front & back bench was $528.
my only complaint (from both vehicle installs) is the passenger seat of the jeep because it folds WAY up to provide room to get into the back seat. because of this the mechanics under the seat pulls slightly on the straps holding down the seat cover. This is minor though.
you can get them in many colors and styles. The ones I have can get a little hot when you sit on them for a long time (it's neoprene - like a wetsuit). I think they have a non-waterproof version that's cheaper - i don't know if they would "breath" better.
Fabric is great, very durable
They fit great. Nice and tight
Holding up great so far. Been 4 months
250 a pair
Definatly would recomend them.
Cant think of any cons,
proslooks good, comfortable, fits good, comes with 2 pouches for stuff
also covers come in a re usable carry bag.
I bought these to use only when I was off-roading... but they really have grown on me! I have a Big dog that always comes out on the trail and loves mudd. The last thing I wanted to do was trash my brand new seats... Now After playing in snow, rain , mud & about 10 trails these things look great! Toss them in the washer and boom!! Back in business & they only cost $40!
PROs
* Affordable
* Easy On Easy Off
* Cleaning
* Stops tears and cuts
* Water resistant
CONS
* NOT made FOR JEEP
* Hole can be cut for seat adjustment
* Loose fit
Thanks for the suggestion here l2abbit :thumb:. I just grabbed these cause of a constant teacher budget and they will work great for: My dog + Sedona red dirt/mud
My JK is blessed with the "real imitation" leather seating. In the summer it causes sweaty back/butt very well. Those who have Trek Armor covers, how well do they "breathe"?
They are a little pricier than other seat cover options, but I will tell you that they are super tight. You dont even know they are on the seats. Rather than others that are more obvious.
I have the coverkings neoprene covers. If you look at Quadratec's catalog... coverking/wet okole... dude they buy the same cover and put their names on them. Seriously... just like all automotive/motorcycle parts. Harley doesn't manufacture an oil filter, but they sell and HD brand oil filter (claiming superior quality too) etc.. etc.. for all automotive brands.
Neoprene material is awesome, cleans up really easy, My Golden's fur that sheds wipes off with a wet rag - perfect seat covers for me.
These fit very snug - you cannot tell they are seat covers
Have no clue, I've had them 3 weeks and have a 2013 jeep.
Smittybuilt. I haven't owned a pair myself, but friends and others have had problems with the stitching coming apart, stitching fading, and general fading.
I hear a lot of buyer's remorse from Smittybuilt owners when they see the Trek Armor.
I am pretty sure I have seat covers because I have never seen seats from Jeep that look like this but I am not a seat expert haha! I am the proud second owner of this jeep and I was not involved in the putting on of these covers. What I can say is that they look stock they are on so good! I could not find any tags on them whatsoever. Can someone identify these? Im thining katskins maybe?
**first thread reply - brand new member - be gentle**
After buying my second wrangler - this one a 07 JKU Sahara - I've been steadily blacking out as much as possible. The first thing I installed were QT neoprene covers. Easy on. Tight. and only show a small amount of the factory grey underneath. The back seats were removed to allow my dog room in the back. Huge great dane.
SO far - in three months - i find the neoprene vacuums off really easily. None of the dog hair sticks.
I've actually added the smittybilt G.E.A.R. COVERS over top the neoprene no problem.
Hmmm, interesting idea.:drool:
A friend of mine has some of the Smittybuilt covers he wants to sell to me, cheap. They look cool, but don't cover the whole seat. Maybe some cheapy seat covers and the G.E.A.R. covers over the top.
Hmmmm :appl:
