I know there are lock boxes and such for these Jeeps but I wonder how many folks have had issues with less-than-honest people messin' with your Jeeps when you leave the top down, or even when you don't.
Air bags, stereos... Stuff like that, or even taking the whole Jeep.
If one can't take it anywhere and park it for a while, what's the point?
I'd say most people have some good success with the aftermarket lockboxes mounted under the seats (although one time I saw a guy who had one that broke and wouldn't shut so it kept opening on him and hitting his feet on the trail lol). Also keep in mind that the rear storage in the back is locked by the tailgate when it's closed.
As far as the Jeep itself is concerned. If I get a shady feeling about a place, am taking a long vacation, or am staying overnight at a hotel or something, I'll just pull a couple relays and breakers on the starter and fuel pump circuits.

Stereo HU - Most will not bother with a stock (non-Nav) unit. Aftermarkets go with a removable face.
Don't park in non-lit and/or questionable locations
Locking lugnuts
Locking hood parts (inner-grill mount or L/R hood ones)
I fabricated my own proximity sensor alarm to coincide with the factory one. I installed a completely new sound system (HU, amp, speakers, sub, wiring etc) and I designed it around a removable face HU.
I also have a Tuffy Security box in the back that houses the amp and sub plus my HU faceplate when I am parked. Plus any other valuables that I can't take with me.
MOPAR hood lock, gorilla lugnuts (23 in total), MOPAR locking gas cap help to keep low life thieves away.
Can you post a picture of the tuffy secure box with the sub? I have been considering the rear tuffy secure deck unit but dont want it to rattle with my after market 10" sub.

I'm loving these options!! I also carry a gun and have wondered just how secure that would be if I had to go into a restricted area where I'm not allowed to carry (ie school, etc.) Any thoughts?
Check out the Tuffy/Bestop underseat lock boxes. It's like a keyed safe under the driver or passenger seat. Ultimately, (I'm sure you know because you carry) consult the state laws to ensure you are truly safe. :thumb:
I've only had mine since last November and have both a Tuffy underseat lockbox and the Tuffy security deck. She's been nekkid except for tube doors the last week. Nothing has been taken from it so far but I also don't leave anything valuable laying around. Interestingly, when I got to my office this morning I noticed that my windshield lights were on and had to go back and turn them off. Evidently, somebody reached in and flipped the switch on my Spod while I was walking in. I'm in a pretty secure area so I imagine it was just a student being curious.
No, just the aux ones that I've added (rear, windshield, bumper). The headlights and others still use the factory switches. I guess some jerk could mess with those and I'd be in trouble but not so far.
I never leave anything valuable in my Jeep and have never had anyone mess with it, as far as I know. I don't worry about it much. That's what insurance is for.
No one has messed with my Jeep at work, and it has been naked many times.
But with the new kid, I'm now in sunrider mode with the doors on, and when I park, I flip the top forward without latching it. Throw in the Tuffy trunk enclosure and underseat lockbox, along with the hood and wheel locks, and it is a pretty uninviting target. When naked, I do worry that someone would throw trash or something in it....but it has not happened.
I do park mine where I can see it from my office window. She's sitting there now with no top, tube doors, and a spiderweb shade. I've noticed a few people walk around her to take a look and have seen some appreciative nods. Makes a man proud.
Twice to me so far, but I like to park under trees when possible as Texas gets a little hot in the summertime. I've got a spiderwebshade now, so at least the surfaces that I sit on have some protection.
Common sense measures do go a long way, but obviously there will always be jerks out there that will use any opportunity to go through the contents of any unsecured jeep, even if it only gets them 83 cents in change. Most of the opportunists won't carry the tools to defeat a lock box or hood/wheel locks.
Agreed, there's always some risk and common sense goes a long way. For me, I'd rather take the risk and enjoy the ride than play it safe and miss out on the experience. And the spiderweb shade not only helps with the sun but also with the bird crap. I also keep a towel handy.
Hi all...Just bought my first jeep yesterday evening and couldnt be more excited. I was trying to find a list or layout for routine maintenance that should be performed, can anyone help out? Thanks!!

Welcome aboard. There are MANY more people on the list who will be more helpful that I will ever be but I don't treat her any different than my other vehicles. Regular maintenance as outlined in the manual, wash her every now and then...enjoy.
