INS question

Do you know if the insurance company values all the add-ons or just the value of the jeep? I have sank about 12K into mine in the past 30 days and have been wondering. Glad everyone ended up ok. makes my eyes tear up when i see the pics.

I let my agent know that I had 7500 worth of modifications and they went through the itemized list. In the end I have a line item of my policy to cover 7500 of customized parts for about 100 bucks a year.

My research showed that it is best to let the insurer know about the mods and if they say they won't cover it then it is time to start shopping for another provider.

I had all the modifications covered up to $20,000 for a slight increase in my policy. But since the semi is at fault, his insurance covered my loss 100% for everything (Jeep, aftermarket parts, labor, items in Jeep that were ruined or dirty from accident), plus gave me an additional $13,000 to help me get another vehicle. Once I am done with my medical treatments, my attorney will help me settle on the personal injury portion of my claim. Thank god it was only me in the Jeep, because anyone else might of been seriously hurt or killed. Especially in the back seat!

If I were you, I would go out and buy a lottery ticket! Wow! Was anybody in the rear seats? I hope not, and glad you're okay!

I'm subscribing to show my wife the benefit of the bumper and other mods.

Thank God you're okay.

The Jeep can be replaced, people can't.

Who is your insurance company? Just spent 35 mins on the phone with mine (USAA) and they said they would have to push me to Progressive for the aftermarket accessories to be covered (currently about 12K). And after a quote, my premium would double. Progressive, yuk. First time i have ever not been 100% satisfied with USAA. Glad your covered (and of course OK).

What a testimony for your jeep's ruggedness. Glad to hear you weren't hurt. You definitely have reason to celebrate this Veteran's Day!

State Farm told me to just keep invoices and time stamped photos of the equipment I was running, and they would cover it.
Very glad you are ok. Can't believe the damage and that you are still walking. Congrats and thank God.

i cant believe the seats fell apart, did you do anything aftermarket to them? I might send a very strongly worded letter to Jeep about that, thats pretty messed up! Lucky you walked away, imagine if you had the roof off?

First and foremost glad you came out of that with minor injuries it looks and sounds scary as heck!!

...note to self the $1500 you have been fretting over for a new rear bumper may be money well spent after all

Dude glad you are not seriously injured. I recently had a accident with a prius(Jeep vs. Prius thread) but got extremely lucky no one was hurt and no damage to my jeep. Lifts, bumpers, etc. can really go a long way!

Glad your OK. That "Go Home" traffic on I-40 sucks. I bet there is at least one accident on I40 crossing the river a day.

All things considered, it looks like the Jeep held up pretty well. A lesser vehicle would have been vaporized.

Glad you're okay.

Unreal!

got to think that that massive tire acted like a monster shock absorber, it certainly creased the semi's hood nicely.

Very glad you are okay! That is crazy and a lot scary that the seats broke. I would think that would be one of the last things to break free in a bad accident.

USAA here as well. I called them months ago and had the same discussion and the same response. I have not done anything different yet but it might be a reason to leave them as much as I'd hate it. With all the $$$$$ I have tied up in two of them that wouldn't be covered if something happened it might be worth a few extra dollars a month with someone else for the mod coverage.
