Notice how the end of the shifter wobbles around......I don't think that in the long haul, that can be good for the transmission. I think that it puts undue pressure on the transmission with the clutch engaged. Just my 2 cents worth.........
I had drivers put an extended shifter in my both my Peterbilts. Had to replace the springs on top of the transmission that kept the shifter in place while driving. That's way too much pressure bouncing around. Plus, I would bang my head on it sometimes. Definitely would not recommend and it gets old after about 10 mins.
This discussion reminds me of Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth's Rat Fink character. He always drew RF with tall shifters. Mostly 50's chevy's and dragsters but here is a decal that would be OK on my jeep.
