Got my antenna X in today, it does not screw all the way down, it bottoms out and stops turning, but there is a gap from the bottom of the (black base) antenna and the mount. Wonder if they sent the right one?

Got it installed, turns out there was a buch of factory loc-tite at the bottome keeping it from going on. Reception seems good so far.

I bought a 13" several weeks ago. As I listen to a AM sports station from NY most of the time I noticed issues right away. Where I live there is heavy tree cover in most neighborhoods. Whenever driving where the canopy pretty much covered the road the reception would fade or go out completely. Now I'm not talking jungle canopy, just basically where trees from both sides of road blend. I also tried it for some FM stations and ran into the same problem but not as noticeable. So after using it for several weeks and playing around with it based on other posts, I decided to go back to my original antenna (I plasti-dipped it black though).

yes, AM will be affected the most. But for the most of us that don't listen to AM it is not an issue.

Just ordered 7" off Amazon. I am not too worried about reception, down here in Florida biggest hills are garbage dumps.

Hate mine. Like the look, reception is garbage. If you are close to a populated area where the signal comes from, you should be fine. If you are on the outskirts, or farther away, forget it.

Oh, and you'd better pray you have satellite if you go on a long trip. There would be times when I hit the search button and it just kept looping looking for a station. That lasted a LONG time.

i bought the 14" from AntennaX and had no problem installing. have had it on for a few days and reception is serviceable...not as good as stock but not bad. i notice the biggest difference with AM, but i mostly listen to FM when not on Sirius. definitely worth the better looks so far.

Wait....there's still such a thing as am/fm radio?

I live 15 miles from tons of stations... works great. I still get some multipath (interference when driving between tall buildings downtown). I can get Toledo stations with my 14" stubby, which is 50+ miles away.

Reception is complex : terrain, distance from transmitters, radio sensitivity, antenna strength, etc. If you are not in an ideal situation you will lose signal with the shorter antenna. I live in a flat area and get good reception, when I'm not in downtown between tall buildings. Otherwise I'm golden.

I would recommend downloading iheart radio,Tunein radio Pandora or similar. The station u r looking for can prob be found on it. Then just plug phone/or blue tooth into your radio.

Ive had mine for a couple weeks too and love it!!!! Only one small thing - first day i was driving with it on i looked over and couldn't see it while driving...thought i didn't tighten enough and it feel off...was even leaning over into the passenger seat trying to spot the damn thing...so freaking out it was in a parking lot somewhere i pulled over and realized it was still there! but the length and material makes it bend back into a blind spot while driving hahaha, but it still gets me on occasion when i look over and think "Damnit, that antenna feel off again!"

I just ordered the 5" stubby antenna from Amazon. Getting tired of the factory antenna whipping around. I think the only time my am/fm radio was used was when I turned the Jeep on for the first time. So hopefully this even puts the antenna out of site from the drivers seat.

you could also try taking the antenna mount off all together and just cover it with a "trail rated" badge like many others have done. Then viola, no antenna but also no radio which doesn't seem like a problem for you.

Also I just installed the 14" metal antennaX and this morning I was having some cutting in and out of reception on stations I typically get really clear allllll the time so I am not sure if it will be staying. I'll give it a few days to really see but not really impressed yet.

True story. This was my first mod about 2 months ago. Looks great on the Lobster! It still freaks me out how it bends so much when driving. But radio reception is perfect. Love it.

Nope, try a little Lock-tite. Not the permanent version.

ok, can you check to make sure the thread inside the bottom of the antenna is screwed ito the top all the way. you can check by twisting off the bottom 2 inch plastic base, you will see a thread inside. Make sure it is screwed in all the way to the top mast, reassemble and try it out

13" AntennaX offroad version works like a charm for me about 20 miles from downtown. It was a PITA tightening those last couple turns though.
