So after putting my new jw lights in and stepping back to look at my jeep, noticed my once monster truck tires now look Dinky. When I first got 35s I thought it looked good.
so I've decided to go up to 37s. I have 373 gears And this will be a daily driver. How much would I hate life for 3 to 6 months with 373 on 37s?
You are on the driving your Jeep and your tolerance for performance is different than many. It won't be undriveable and you don't seem to mind it with 35s so only you can decide. Hopefully you will be sticking with a lighter tire like your MTRs.
If you just want want opinions in favor to help you rationalize a questionable decision, just stick around they will pop up stating they 3.21 gears with 42" tires, drive 50 miles a day and get 20 MPG. Ideally wait until you can do both but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I was miserable with 3.73 and 35 so when I upgraded to 37 went straight to 5.13.....man wait to have everything done at once....word of advice do 4.88 (if automatic) I did 5.13 thinking I was going to go bigger down the road but at 70 mph the engine was screaming at 2700 rpm.
Thanks for the responses. I've already decided to jump to 37 so I don't need justification on that part. the only question is if I can live with 37s for a while before I regear. I could regear first but I want 37s soon.
Just checking to see if anyone hated the jump from 35s to 37s On 373s. 35s arnt bad. A bit slow but I drive slow anyways.

Hey where are you at? I'm regretting going 33s instead of 35s. Maybe we can try to pass our losses down some... Love my tires performance but wish had gone little bigger. Joe
Edit: with 373s are you sport or Sahara? I've got 18" wheels...
LowFat, have you done anything to address axle longevity when you stepped up to 35's, like C gussets, sleeving or trussing? If not, you may want to consider doing so before stepping up to 37's if you plan on doing any wheeling at all.
Yeah, I'm not sure gears are the only consideration going to 37's. That's the big leagues. Axle shafts, axle tubes, D30 housing, outer C's, drivelines, track bars, control arms, etc., etc. all need to be addressed unless your the fun it till it breaks and then upgrade type. Nothing wrong with that if you have the money waiting around.
You can run 37's on a stock-ish Wrangler. I just met a guy on a 2.5 inch RK mid-arm and 37's. He had a Rubicon with 4.10s and said it performed well. But he had trussed his front axle and was on his way to a friends house to weld on gussets.
Can it be done? Sure. Ideal? Probably not. Gears are subjective. One guys perfect performance is another guy's hell on wheels. Drive a 3.21 Jeep on 33's and see if you can tolerate it.
37's on stock axles is totally doable, but dont expect them to last. Remember, these are quarter ton axles turning tires that are appropriate for a 3/4 ton vehicle.
I trashed a dana 30 in 2 years, but I was expecting it and had appropriate upgrades planned for when it went.
thanks for all the responses. I looked into it and I priced out some gears. Since it was getting worked on I decided to get lockers. The labor involved I might as well buy a whole d44 to replace my d30 that have the gears and locker build in. It's the same price.
So this 35 to 37 jump is going to be a $7k jump. So I'm going to roll with the 35's until around june when I can get everything together.

Good thinking and smart move. Maybe even wear out those 35's real good and go D60 . Go big or go home right?
I'm trying to encourage your habit. I wheel totally stock
