I don't have any pics, but I'm about 3/4 of the way through installing a new system in my Jeep.
I went with this double-DIN Pioneer AVH-2300DVD head ($280 on Amazon):
With the stock speakers in the front and these cheap ($37) Pyle components in the sound bar (surface-mounted the tweeters to the sound bar/ stuffed the crossovers inside):
To that, I'm going to add the 12 inch powered sub that I had in my old pickup and probably a backup camera just for the hell of it. I'm undecided whether I want to replace the dash speakers or not.
I also ordered an $8 bypass switch to allow DVD/ Video playback without setting the parking brake. No, I'm not planning on wheeling & watching movies at the same time; I'm setting it up so my daughter can watch from the back seat.
As far as tips & tricks:
1) You'll need to buy the PAC-C2R-CHY4
interface. Yeah, it's almost 70 bucks, but you'll need it in order for everything to work properly with the CAN-BUS system. With the adapter, you just make a few solder connections (speakers, +, -, etc) and everything is plug and play after that.
2) You'll need an antenna adapter. I went with the Metra 40-EU10
3) Buy a dash kit/ mount. My installation required the Metra 95-6511
4) I had to break out the hack saw in order for the Pioneer to fit as it's both deeper and taller than the stock unit. I just had to cut out some plastic that was underneath the stock radio and bend two metal tabs out of my way.
All-in-all, I'm into my system for around $400 before adding in the cost of the sub (which I already have) and backup camera ($25-50).
