After reading through the threads on this mod I could not find any video of it.
I decided to make one to eliminate all the questions hope this helps Jk Jeep side marker light blinker MOD - YouTube
I picked up the blue clips tonight at Advanced Audio Parts. I grabbed the 14-18 guage weatherproof version, so I hope they'll work. I'm doing a few other projects under the hood tomorrow, so your video was perfectly timed, thank you!
Only thing I would suggest is using scotchlock-type connectors that have a silicone-like sealant built in that squishes all around the wires as they're crimped. They won't corrode from the mud and crud that gets splashed up on them. Thanks again!
I do have a question about this mod which I hope is doable.
Is it possible to do this mod with the Bushwacker flat fenders with the side markers and the Recon LED front blinkers? What additional part(s) are required to make it work for LED's on both sides?
I have researched and found that the led lights works in a different fashion. So I think you need to have it wired differently or with resistors if I remember correctly.
Drivers side was no problem to complete the mod in a few minutes. On the passenger side, do you still use the bottom wire which is black (from the plug, not the marker light which is still black) or the middle wire that is white/gray (same color as driver side).
They make those 3M scotchlok splice things with dialectic grease in them to keep out moisture and prevent corrosion.
I highly recommend a weather-sealed splice if you are going to be using your Jeep like a Jeep.
When it comes to electrical I personally stick to marine grade stuff where I can.
Like others have asked is it possible with the LED's using a resistor?
