Side steps fit with mud flaps?

I've got a dark forest green pearl JK SPORT S and installed Mopar front mud flaps. Now I want to install Rugged Ridge 4 1/4" oval side steps. Will thr mud flaps interfere with the side steps? I'm having trouble getting a definitive answer from the suppliers. The side steps are listed as 56" long. I think there's a good chance they'll hit. I don't like the looks of Mopar's side steps.

Any comments, advice, or stories of installations would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Tom

Welcome to the forum. Looking at the pics of those steps, they do appear to stick under the flare a pretty good ways. Hard to say if there would be interference or not. But the Mopar flaps hang down on the inside of the fender closest to the tire. So it may clear. But, like said, hard to be certain.

FWIW, if you are looking for any kind of protection out of those rails, I would urge you to look elsewhere. Those are steps and nothing more. I would encourage you to look into something like the ACE rails which do a good job of providing a useful step as well as protection when offroad (and from those pesky door-openers next to you in parking lots). The ACE rails looks great, especially when mounted in conjunction with Rubi sliders.

Truthfully I like these smittybuilt SRC side armory better. I think they would function a little better as a step. You cant go wrong no matter what you get although I regret buying the mopar side steps. I really should have gone with rocker guards and saved some money

I've got those. Had to grind hell out of the driver's side to install it, but I like em just the same.

OP, I'd say ditch the mud flap idea. One good trail ride and they're goners.
