Hello All!

I am looking at sprucing my Wrangler up a tad. I want to get some side steps for my Jeep. Any recommedations? I'd love to see pics!

I added the factory ones as well. Got a great deal through Amazon. for a close to stock Jeep IMHO they do look the best.

I am thinking of making mine look more aggressive though. Bigger/better tires, flatish fenders, after market bumpers. If I go that route I might take mine off and go more with a slider/nerf bar look.

I really like the clean lines of the factory steps and the way they tie in the stock flares, but gotta question about their sturdiness. My '14 JKS is a daily driver, not a rock climber (I might hop a curb or find a rutted dirt road once in awhile) so my concern comes from the topside rather than underneath...

I dunno how to ask this delicately...

I'm a big guy, clocking in at well north of 250 lbs. Granted, I'm certainly not going to be jumping on the side steps, but will my weight be an issue at all using them frequently? I know they're attached to the frame, but haven't seen any detail of how rugged the mounting hardware is.

If you're talking about the "flat style" factory steps then I can't help you...

But if you're talking about the mopar tubular style side steps that come on some jeeps from the factory then I can help you.

I've had two adults, about 200 pounds each, both stand on the step at the same time and there were no problems. Supported the weight fine.

I also like the clean look of the factory tubular side steps, you can get them on Amazon for a bit under $300. I am going to post a WTB on craigslist and see if anyone has something they are looking to get rid of. Not really a priority for me right now, I just got the rig and need to spend $450 on the Tuffy locker and another $$$ on a soft top.

Is there anything in the 3-rd party options in the $200 and under range worth considering. I am like the OP - not gonna go crawling, rough trails is about as hard as it is gonna get. This is mostly for my wife, who has a bit of a hard time hopping i. So they gotta look good.

You should be able to get oem side steps for a great price on Craiglist, e-bay and on Kijiji Canada. I sold mine for $200 and they were sold as soon as I put them on Kijiji. Many people get rid of them right away in favor of rock sliders so there are usually tons to choose from.

Here in Canada they list for almost $500 at the dealerships.
