Hi everyone.
On a budget, my DD is taking me and my family around town, so no time for wheeling.

I've been looking at getting some side steps cause the OE steps are not my cup of tea.

Any brands to avoid, Red Rock, Smitty, etc?
Any brands to get? JCR, Quadratec?

I just can't understand the wild difference in price between what looks to be the exact same product with different brand names on the non-slip part of the steps.

Let me know your thoughts. thanks in advance.

I have recently purchased and installed rock sliders. So in my research I think there are two main differences in the tubular design. One that mounts to the body bolts and the other mounts to the pinch seam (like the factory running boards). My personal preference is the kind to mounts to the body because it seems much more structurally durable on impact, so I bought it and love it.

If your not wheeling, it doesn't matter. Buy in your budget.

I like, and have actually used my eAutogrilles Smitty knockoff slider steps. They were right around $300 shipped from their eBay store. That was about the best price I found for what I needed. Oh and they are the body mount type.

Check out my build thread for pics. Think I put some up in there. But here's one for now.

Mike and I both have ACE rock rails on our jeeps and love them. They are STOUT! There are lots of people here on the forum that run ACE. :)

Best thing is, they cover the pinch seam without the need for additional rails. That's what sold me. I have mine on order and will post a review once received and installed.

I have the smitty XRC sidearmor and I am very happy. They are a three rail system with a flat step at each door. They mount to the frame and are heavy duty. I know some people on the forum don't like smitty, but if don't do hardcover wheeling they have been great. Only complaint was had to file 1 of the mounting holes to line up with the existing frame bolts. Good luck

I like the ons that mount to the body with nutserts (TNT Guardians, Purejeep, Nemesis, etc) or to the frame with either bolts or welding (Shockworks) and the round tubing should be DOM tubing. They will be more expensive but if you're offloading, they are worth it. The body one (Nemesis, TNT, Purejeep) give you the most clearance. At the time I was pretty paranoid about drilling little holes in the body sheet so went with Shrockworks. Those are frame mounted with bolts that go into the frame (not the body mount ones). They can also be welded on.

I had ACE and did not like them so went with something bit more heavy-duty and avoided the body mount bolts. I think EVO makes some decent ones too.

Went with ACE with a set of used rubicon rails which I refinished with Rustoleum Bedliner spray... can't say enough about this combo but it does add weight. I wasn't concerned but some may be. For me it's a piece of mind for extra protection.

As a second option I really like the Rock Hard rails, as they said they cover the pinch seam and are an easy install. I recommended these to a friend looking for rails in that price range.

Thanks!

We don't offer specials ourselves (we don't want to compete against our hard working dealers) but many of our industry partners offer continual specials like free shipping and/or no sales tax.

I chose ACE because they're made in the USA and the best thing is the lifetime warranty! I was told by ACE that if they were damaged (by anything) they would be replaced! I haven't broke mine yet but it's just good to know. I got them from Northridge 4x4. And they don't seem to reduce any ground clearance. Work with rubi rails on.

Just bought a Jeep and have been checking out the forum. So far I've narrowed the choice down between the ace and the barricade sliders.

Quick question for those that have bought the barricade sliders recently:

I've noticed that extreme terrain has the barricade sliders as out of stock so how long has the wait time been from order to your doorstep? The reason I ask is because I will be out of town around the middle of June and want to decide on whether to order before I leave or after I get back (if I end up choosing the barricade sliders).

It took right at three weeks. Just installed mine yesterday.

Hey Brooklyn, not sure if you ordered already, but if budget is a concern, please note that most of the pics in this thread are portraying the ACE sliders in combo with the factory Rubicon Rails. The Rubi rails are an extra expense if you don't already have them, but the good news is you can also run the ACE sliders without the Rubi rails. (I do this. I don't have a good pic handy, but I rattle can bedlined the pinch seam to tidy up the look a bit.)

I previously advocated for the Rock Hard 4x4 Tube Sliders and my order is now going on three weeks with no sign of them. It may be a nice product (I still can't confirm) but hopefully you have patience.

Shoot me a PM with your name, order details, etc and I'll dig into your order right away.

I have the JCR classic sliders and love them. They fit well, they looks good, and they provide a step. Furthermore, I've put a beating on them with not a single issue but losing powdercoating (not JCRs issue). I've laid the jku on them and used them as a fulcrum to get over thing...no bends, dents..and i've done this probably 4 times now with varying degrees of approaches (meaning laid it nicely vs. slamming it down).
