Wow. That's about as newb a question as you can get. Try the search button up top. There's tons of info on this. And probably somewhere on the page is a Quadratec ad. That's a good place to look.

Welcome aboard.

You have two options.

1. You can remove the mirrors and relocate them on to the side of the windshield. They have kits for these. You could also buy a second set of OEM mirrors for this option and not remove the ones from your doors.
Mirror Relocation Brackets for Jeep Wrangler - Quadratec

2. You can buy a second set of mirrors and mount them. These are quick release type. I am planning to go with this option.
Lange Originals 023-111 - Lange Originals Quick Mirror II in Black for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

You will have to give up your ability to have power mirrors. but who cares at this point, you are going to be doorless.

I've had the Langes. Wasn't happy with them. Went with the RR set that.

I personally use a Harley Davidson mirror slipped into the top hinge. I only use one on the drivers side.

That being said, I plan to switch over to the RR quick release units mentioned above once doors off weather gets here again.

I like my Langes. Those RR's look cool, but kind of small maybe? I only run one on the drivers side because as soon as the soft doors go on anything on the passenger side is useless, I assume it's still the case with the RR, no?

I don't think that is a issue with the RR set. FWIW, the mirror on the Lange set bolts right on to the RR arm.

Like 4fit, I use Harley mirrors, but most use the long shaft, I picked the short.

I just tried my Lange orignal style that goes into the hinge for the first time this week. I'm not very happy with it. The mirror isn't very steady and it whistles like a banshee above 30 mph. I think the whistle comes from the vinyl trim around the edge but I'm not sure.

I have the Lange that attaches to the bracket that mounts on the windshield hole. It may be the Lange II.
No shake even at 80.

I'm torn between the Lang II's and the RR. I like the mirror size of the langes but think the RR's maybe sturdier.

One question about both, when you bolted them to the windshield bracket did it chip or scratch the paint?

they come with a rubber piece that sits between the mount and the windshield frame.

I ran these all last summer and was really impressed.

As has been said there is a rubber piece that goes under the bracket. I left the bracket on all winter so don't know it it damaged the windshield bracket but it looks like pretty good protection.
