Simple Mod Ideas??

Just bought my 07 Sahara 2 weeks ago, and i'm looking to do some simple mods within a decent price range for the moment... so far ive changed out the head & fog light bulbs to hyper white bulbs, at the moment the light tint is drying in my garage on the headlights, fog lights, turn signals, and tail lights... was considering doing the hurculiner, but keep going back and forth.....

Anyone have any other ideas for simple mods i can do myself on a random day off???

That's the thing about "modding" a ride, it should be what YOU want to do. For example, you may hear some grumbles about tinting your lights, but if that's your thing......

Well, taking crap off is cheap and easy. If you have steps, take them off, you can swap the visors to keep from looking at the stickers, um, Idk, JK's come with less ugly stuff than TJ's did... Paint the Jeep letters on the front, trim the flares, Harley mirrors for when you're doorless, make quick discos. I'd have to find the cheap mods thread to come up with more.

Congrats on the new Jeep! Don't forget to wave!

Looks like a sweet right to me. Just do things as the budget allows and wherever your mind wanders.

Turn your rearview mirror up side down. It drastically improves your visibility

Drill a small hole at the base of your side mirrors (through the black plastic, on the vertical circlular base right before it meets the horizontal arm). Water will drain out instead of collecting in there and dribbling down your door for days at a time.

Go to "search" for "console cushion", mine is Rugged Ridge and it makes your rught elbow -so comfy, it you gotta drive any length of time

Get some 1" gray door sealer tape cushion, one side adhesive the other-foam, and put along the drivers/passenger doorwindow base and it's easier on the drivers left elbow and passengers right--blends right in with the gray plastic

I am liking this thread already!

I searched the net and found a site that told me how to make my own cheap disconnects. At least until I can invest into something better in the future.

A lot of JK owners do this.. I like it. I've also seen people buy "Jeep" decals for the side like TJ's since JK's don't have them.

There are many little things you can do. Go to your favorite Jeep catalogue and look for inexpensive, usefull items. Center console are rest is a good one. Hand straps on the rollbars, new floor mats, GPS, Sat radio, CB radio.... Turning the mirror is a good idea. I did that on my TJ, and forgot all about it for my JK..... Good luck....

center console padding

alot of talk about center console padding. I have a Tuffy security center console, and I pulled off the pleather and replaced it with some 5 mill thick neoprene (wetsuit material) i got on e-bay for a few bucks.
Feels awesome, dries quick, and matches my wet Okole seat covers woo-hoo (sorry no pic)

Make sure and adjust your headlight beam level nice and low with those.

I shoot with local PD and Sheriffs at the range all the time and they have a particular hatered for super bright eye level headlights.

Even if you don't go off road a tow strap and basic safety equipment is good to have. Fire extinguisher, road flares, gloves, small first aid kit, etc.

Removing the spring from the hood latch prevents hood flutter on the highway.

the tint is probably light enough that the illumination wont really be compromised...I hope, lol.
I like the look of the tinted tail lights too.

The tint looks great, i did the headlights, foglights, trun signals, and tail lghts... I did go a little dark, the beam was dimmed a bit, not enough to be a pain or anything, but i definitly plan on switching out the factory lights for some HIDs now... Im also buying the bestop hard top in 2 weeks, i do a lot of highway driving, n the road noise from the soft top is irritating, not to mention that i love the way it looks...

yea i dont think it was too bright to do the head lights. but ya live and ya learn. the stock jeep head lights are so bad to begin with that i couldnt imagine tinting them myself. HID's should defilently help out in that area. i do how ever love the tinted look. i can also agree that the hard top is a great addition to the wrangler, i couldnt see myself without mine now.

Really? Not that I care about the hood flutter really. In fact it is a nice joke to play on some girls when they are in my Jeep... "I think the hood is going to fly off.. ahhh!" Ha ha ha!
