So your're saying any new Jeep with a September or later pro date should have the new head? So stay away from a sunmmer build Jeep?

That math doesn't add up. Even "The Count" can attest to that!

the poll isn't quite worded correctly. It should be treated as:

My 2012/13 JK:
1. has at least 12,000 miles and does NOT have a head problem
2. HAS or HAD a confirmed head problem

No, I wanted it to be for 2012's only, Blastek. Hopefully, the 13's are OK, but if they are not, then they should have their own poll.

True about the 12/13. otherwise the modification is correct.

Yeah, I guess I just assumed people would know that if they currently have a confirmed head problem or if they had one in the past, either way they should vote yes.

My 2012 JKU had about 18k when it all started. I heard the ticking and thought it was strange but figured it was just the way the new engine sounded. However, I started noticing a rough idle. It would clear up once I was under way though. Then the CEL light came on. The dealer diagnosed it as a cylinder 2 misfire and advised that the head would need to be replaced. I had to wait about a month and a half for the new head come in. Once the head was in the dealer had the jeep for 17 (which is way too long in my opinion). About 500 miles since completed and so far, so good. That's my story.

voted yes, had tappets replaced that did not fix and then had head replaced and fixed it. had about 3-4k miles when work was done and tick showed up before 1k miles on the clock.

2013s did not cross some magical line into perfection. If 2012s from late in the production cycle are having problems, then 2013s are going to have some problems too. I've only heard of a couple of 2013s with head issues so far on other forums.

IF, the AC head is the answer then the 2013's built after September will not have a problem. Some 2012's built with with the AA and then in July and August with the AB heads have a problem. I agree that only time will tell if the AC head is the answer but so far it looks like a problem solved.

If it legitimately runs better on 93 it is because there is something wrong. You are spending extra money to bail them out on something they need to fix even if it isn't the head problem.

He did end up buying the Jeep and the poll had been relevant to this. He last bumped it in October. Ya'll are the one necro-ing this nonsense only to whine about it.

I have a 2013 JKUR built in October of 12. I just noticed a noticed a noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. It sounds like I'm hearing the lifters and I can here it from behind the front passenger wheel with the hood closed and better with the engine beauty cover off. I just got back from a 500 mi road trip with no issues until after grabbing a bite noticed it had a bit of a diesel 4cyl sound. Any thoughts on my issue would be greatly appreciated. She has 2,223mi. on her.

I have a 2012 JKU rubicon with 33k on it, and havent had the engine light turn on or any idleing/power problems... i have noticed a slight ticking sound but like someone else said i just figured it was the way the 3.6 sounded and never gave it anymore thought till reading this thread lol thanks guys... Could there be a head problem without throwing the check engine light?? i guess im going to have to pay more attention to it now and go from there...
