Sirius Radio - Missing a Beat?

I've never had Sirius (or any satallite) radio before, but it seems a lot of the time during songs with a strong bass line that the subwoofer will miss a beat or two, leaving you falling on your face a little bit if you're following closely. It's quite noticeable. Is this a caveat of satallite radio? The 430N/Infinity radio doesn't do this while on any other sources, just Sirius. Have ruled out checking wiring connections because other sources play just fine.

Thanks for the input.

I've found that satellite radios just sounds like crap overall. Kind of a hollow, tinny sound to it. I'm sorry, but I expect exceptional sound from a radio service I must pay for.

Yes, they use a lossy compression for the data stream to save bandwidth. It makes the music sound terrible at times.

At least the highs don't sound as compressed as FM radio/Bluetooth linked media, especially with the tweeters mounted so high. I thought the amplifier was getting over-worked because it sounds just like clipping or the amp going into thermal protection when the subwoofer drops completely out, then comes back in. Surprisingly, it occurs on the exact same beats every time the same song plays.

I guess it's just a compromise between no lag streaming (bandwidth) and quality. Ugh. Definitely won't be paying for it after the free trial drops off after a year. Pandora through the Aux port on my Droid X sounds better. I need to get an iPod and get same lossless audio on it, not that it would matter much.

I wondered where the antenna is on my last jeep it was on top never really missed any of the music, but I think on the wrangler its on the passenger side lower corner of windshield?

Thats my guess, I thought about putting the aux lights up there but it would block the signal

Good question. I'm thinking about aux lights on the windshield too. Anyone know where the satellite receiver is and if there is a problem with blocking it?

The Sirius antenna is on top of the speaker bar to the right, inside the plastic, I believe.

I guess if someone is bored they can go out and cover the bar a section at a time with a piece of aluminum foil, should block both signals terrestrial and satellite to Sirius.

I can't spare the aluminum foil, I am using mine right now for a hat so big brother doesn't have a chance to read my mind.

This is what I do as well. It's like free satellite radio, with the DJ interruptions.
