Arrow SiriusXM radio Renewal options

55 days according to my subscription page and they will shut me off, or I can pay (with taxes) $187.26 which includes a free month.

I really enjoy a few of the channels and hate FM radio with all the chatting and commercials.

1. Has anyone tried to negotiate a lower rate?

2. If it cancels, what options are people going with? I really hate the idea of using an MP3 player or Smartphone and have to push buttons on it while I'm driving, or do the steering wheel controls still work (I doubt they do except for volume)?

3. I guess I could rip a large MP3 CD and use it, changing it out every so often.

4. Are there promotional codes or coupons available to get the subscription at a reduced rate?

If you are willing to wait with silence for a few weeks, they will email you several times and each time make the deal sweeter - usually 3-6 months at $5/month when you opt for a 2 yr contract. Give or take, from memory as I keep getting them even though I have service.

I was wondering the same. I'm a long ways off from my subscription expiring. I know when I had my Chevy that I traded in I was ALWAYS getting emails from SiriusXM offering me good deals to come back. I never drove that vehicle so didn't feeling like paying for it. My Jeep on the other hand is a diifferent story. I have it in my work truck so I know I will get a discount for the second subscription. They seem to be somewhat flexible in their pricing. I know when I cancelled it on my previous vehicle they wanted to give me all kinds of goodies to stay.

Just give them a call and say that you are thinking about cancelling. They will end up lowering the monthly rate by an absurd amount. Well worth the 10-15 minutes you'll be on the phone with them.

If I could get like 3-5 bucks a month for it I would. they sent me renewal for $206 for 1 year. I listen to a mix of FM, CD, MP3, Satellite. I could easily see just dropping the satellite if need be. They want an absurd amount, considering all I listen to is about 3 of those SAT stations, then rarely. It is also a fairly poor quality signal imo.

My Mother-in-law used this tactic and they extended her free trial out another 6 months. TWICE!

Pandora, TuneIn, Slacker, ShoutCast, etc must be KILLING them.

My experience is that I call them at every renewal and tell them if they can't continue my current rate (roughly half what they are asking) then I will cancel. It generally takes me talking to the cancellation rep, but they have come through every year with continuing the current deal for "just one more year". The first time they don't come through I will drop them like moldy cheese.

I have an 09 and every year I just let it expire. After they shut you off they'll start offering you cheaper rates. I forget the exact amount but TOTAL after all the BS charges is about $72-$75 bucks for the year. Definitely wait them out.

I've done this for two years in a row. My wife has XM and I have Sirius. I am definitely NOT paying full price for satellite for one radio, let alone two. I call the toll-free line with all my information ready, politely ask the operator what country they are located in (most likely the Phillipines) and then ask to be transferred to a supervisor in the U.S. call center. He/she transfers me. The supervisor and I talk a little about my accounts and then they, surprisingly, still have a 6-month promo rate available...it's my luck day... that he/she will graciously offer me for both accounts. I think with tax and the music licensing fee, it runs approx. $85 for a year. That amount is worth it to me.

My trial just expired and they offered me $85 per year, but I turned it down. i use my iPod mostly.

Weird thing though, I still get Sat reception even though it has been a week since I declined. Some of the channels are gone, like Howard and a couple others, but most are still there, so I guess I'll listen as long as I can.

I was notified that I have six months free on a radio I chunked in the trash. Hold on and wait.

OR, maybe you could just pay their advertised rate and not try to beat them down. God forbid if they make a profit.
You said that you like the service, right?

Last I checked they were not listed as a non-profit organization. You can believe they are making a profit. How do you think they could afford to re-up Howard Stern's contract?

When my free trial expired with my 09 I never renewed and never heard from them at all. I was expecting some sort of offer. I pretty much only listened to Howard Stern anyway. For music I have the iPod. Just bought a 12 so I have another free year now.

I think he was saying they are NOT a non-profit company and they are making a profit regardless of the yearly fee.

I enjoy the service too and have it in my wifes yukon. But when my free subscription is over i'm going to tell them to make me a deal or im leaving. There's nothing wrong with trying to get a better deal. Plus the answers always no if you dont ask

Oh yes, Bravo. Nothing is 'free' with them. They even charge for listening online on the website now...that used to be included with the basic subscription amount. They do offer a reduced rate for multiple radios under the same account, so it wont be as much as your dad's.

You're right, Alpine, I like the service; however, I don't want to get raped for it.

First, the music they are streaming down from the satellites is coming down whether or not I, or you, or anyone has a satellite converter in their vehicle.

Second, if they employed more US citizens instead of out-of-country call centers, I would be more understandable of the charges. I'm totally against out-sourcing jobs of that caliber. There's plenty of men and women who would jump at a chance to work in customer service. It's ridiculous. I call US Airways and the call is answered in Milan. I call Sirius and get someone in the Phillipines. I call Acer and, of course, it's India.

Lastly, they hold the power. They have something I want. They can say 'NO'

> I was turned down once before, because my original vehicle had the XM Service in it and when I called SiriusXM, I was told they were not allowed to offer discounts for two units, if one had previously been XM and the second was Sirius, even though they are now SiriusXM..

I noted that when i took delivery of my new 12 Tundra, the radio sticker indicated it was provided by XMSirius, so I am wondering if I will get the same story when I call in 4 months, when that free period runs out..???

If others are getting the same runaround, we should start calling SiriusXM and complain.

Is anyone else getting the same runaround I did... ?

^^ That's still true, ezymount ^^ They can't combine XM radios with Sirius radios yet. They have to remain separate accounts. I used to have two XM converters and therefore I could manage under the same account. Well, the Jeep has Sirius, so I have to have a complete and separate log in and account for that Radio ID as opposed to my wife's XM in her Toyota. They haven't merged the two systems together. I don't know if I would call that getting a runaround, it's probably a monumental task to undertake for two companies that used to be completely separate and competitors of each other. They'll still help you...just call them.

I wish they still offered the lifetime subsscritpion. I signed up for one way back when and now my only fee is if I change radios. So when my year is up on my 2012 it'll cost me $75 to change it over but the way I see it that's pretty good for the life of my 2012. Oh and it still includes access to their internet service.

Why pay more if they are willing to give a reduced price?
