Sitting in Driveway - Decision Time

New Flame Red Unlimited sitting in my driveway and now I must make a decision if it has found a home. Dealer sent it home with me to play with for 24 hrs. I've got 14 hrs. before returning with money or vehicle. Wrangler has every option I want and none I don't want. Bride says she likes it and thinks I should get it. My problem is not having a pickup truck after having one for the last 25 yrs. My bride says to trade in her car and then I can have both and drive whichever one I want. If I do that then I will have to share both vehicles.

I just don't know what to do.

Wish I had a husband or BF with a truck... or a jeep and I had a truck. Seems like an easy choice get the jeep then get the wife a truck!

Do you need a pickup truck? or you just have had them because you simply like pick ups?

I assuming sharing the wrangler is not on the tables lol, otherwise I don't see the problem in getting both.

I had a truck for the past 11 years and now have my Unlimited. Little change thats for sure, but then again I do now have a Jeep haha. If needed get a little trailer if you really need it for something. I vote Jeep and hey even better she said to get rid of her car...

I currently have the pickup but was going to need to trade it for the jeep. Was telling my bride how much I also enjoy the truck and have always had one. She said trade her car and then share the jeep and/or my truck so she will have something to drive. End result I get to keep the truck and gain a new JK Unlimited. But I will have to share.

I had a truck for 20 years (wow I'm getting old) and just bought my first Jeep about the months ago. 2013 2-door sport. 6000 miles later and no regrets, except not doing it earlier in life.

My decision came down to thinking about how often I used the truck lately. Kids are grown and I was using it for very little, nothing that a friend with a truck and a case of beer couldn't help me with if need be.

I loved my trucks, but my rediscovering the joy of driving and the limitless options with the Jeep, including topless and doorless, make it easy to forget about the trucks. Haven't looked back since the test drive.

That being said, you appear to have the option of keeping them both, but beware. My friends wife said the same thing to him so he traded her car for a Rubicon. He still drives the truck...not so much by choice.

HA!

HA!
That is the problem, I'm thinking she is the one that will not want to share. Bride got behind that steering wheel and took off, and, I saw it on her face with the smile from ear to ear and a strong grip on the wheel.

Should I be concerned?

The sale trailers to haul stuff.
You can put a hitch on your Jeep to pull it.
Get the Jeep.

Buy it and get a trailer. Hopefully your bride will get one also and you can both have big smiles.

I own a '14 JKUR that I love, however, I also own a '12 VW Passat TDI which the wife drives to work and we use for long trips that won't involve wheeling. This is my 5th Jeep and my 4th VW TDI and I don't plan on ever not having either again. As much as I love the Jeep, the mileage is horrible which is offset by how well the TDI Passat's is.
It was a bit of shock because I had been driving the Passat for about a year and a half before getting the Jeep, and it's been a few years since I last owned a Jeep, and I totally forgot how bad the mileage actually is... but luckily I work from home and don't drive much.. not to mention I love it

Time for a little education:
You want the Jeep, you want the truck, the New Bride says "trade in her car"
Translation...The Bride wants a new car, so trade her's in and get ready to go get Bride a shiny new convertible

I faced the same predicament after owning a truck for 15+ years... I bought the Jeep and a 5x8 trailer from Tractor Supply. Problem solved.

Same here, first time without a truck in 20 years. I'm just going to buy a trailer for the jeep for my Home Depot/ Lowes runs.

That she is. Most unselfish person I've ever know. But she does know how to manipulate me. lol

Yes, get a trailer sounds like a solution.

I had a truck for over 25 years. I don't miss it! Having a truck all those years seemed to always have someone wanting to borrow it. I was happy to help out my friends. Now i turn to a friend every once in awhile and they are happy to help me out. What comes around goes around.
Enjoy the Jeep! I know I sure do!

....I've had 4x4 pick ups for most of the last 40 years. Got rid of my last Ram last summer.....and it's just amazing how well a proper M101 Bantam works to ease the pain....

There's a world of choices, perhaps driving your bride around looking for her new rig, you could cruise thru a few utility trailer lots....

I've had my share of trucks too, F150s, Avalanche, F350 - but none of them make me smile like driving the Jeep does - not even close. Best of all I don't get asked to haul things anymore. Get a trailer, just don't tell anyone, you get the Jeep life and utility when you must have it.

While I agree about the trailer, I have to say.....that does not work....people seem to find out anyway...

"Don't you have a trailer? Can you help me move blah, blah, blah?"

I have a 5 x 10 Aluminum Trailer. Used it the 2nd day I had my jeep to deliver a range hood, 100mi round trip.

Jeep performed well on the highway. I have never owned a truck, and so have never missed it. But, I have always wondered how much you actually use the truck bed, and how do you lock stuff up? I like the enclosed compartments of the SUVs.

Trade the car in and get a jeep. If your wife ends up driving it all the time then trade the truck in and be a 2 jeep house. You can always buy a trailer, or buy a old beater truck for the times you need to haul stuff. If the bride is happy then your happy right? My girlfriend was saving up to trade her 4runner in on a new one when i met her about 6 months ago. She fell in love with my jeep and just ordered a new JKU a couple weeks ago to replace her 4runner.
