Smittybilt items installed!!

I ordered a few Smittybilt items last week and they just came the other day. I finally got time to install them.

First the seat covers. I really wanted the Wet Okole seat covers but at this time can't afford them. I was able to buy the pair of front seat covers for $129 and get the rear for free. Wet Okoles would have cost me around $500. The seat covers have an opening for side air bags, but I don't have them so I have to keep tucking the covers in. I don't like that the corners are not covered, I see my original gray fabric while everything else is black. Installation wasn't the easiest. Trying to tuck the cover through the seat wasn't the easiest especially with the velcro. On the back seat, I went to clip the straps and one of the clips came off in my hand, so now I'm contacting Smittybilt to get a replacement. Also, one of the front seat covers started to pull the stitching, so trying to get another one of those too. I'm hoping they last me a few years until I can get the ones I want. They are comfortable and do look good.

Next I placed the G.E.A.R. Tailgate cover. Trying to straighten out the cover wasn't the easiest. I had to start at one end, drill and screw it down, then pull tight and move to the next hole. It looks good, wasn't too hard to install. I work in EMS so I have both of these bags filled with equipment. I wish I could fit an O2 tank in but their not big enough. I'm going to buy a fire extinguisher holder from Smittybilt that straps to the roll bar. It should fit a small O2 tank.

Lastly, I installed the G.E.A.R. Overhead Console. This one took longer and was a little more involved. I had to remove the visors and molding and drill out the middle hoop of the windshield. The rest of the installation was easy. It looks good and I really like it. The only problem I haven't figured out is how to get the pouches to sit higher. A few pouches obstruct the view in my rearview mirror.

Can't wait to keep adding to my Jeep and making it my own.

For reasons you cited, I bought the Wet Okole covers. The quality is in a whole different dimension from Smittybilt (although admittedly more pricey).

O2 tank? Work-related, I suspect. When I was in Germany, I used to go to the O2 bars - very cool experience. Always wanted to set up something like it at home, but haven't found a way to do that...

Wow that's great! And it looks awesome. I have been eyeing the tailgate cover myself and been hinting at it strongly for my birthday. It all looks great with the yellow. Wish I could've found a yellow back when i was looking for my Jeep. Oh, well...I really love my black.

I can actually now attest to how well the Neoprene seat covers hold up to rain. I have the sunrider soft top, so the front of the jeep was wide open. Weather was great, and no rain in the forecast for 2 days. While sitting on the couch relaxing enjoying a drink, I start to hear rain pinging off the windows and what do I see?? RAIN!!! I run outside and the entire front is soaked, water was pooling on the seats. I quickly closed the top and went back inside. A few hours later went out with a towel and most of the water was already gone. This morning went to work, and everything was dry. I'm really glad I got these seat covers. They worked like a dream.

Now if I can only get Smittybilt to answer me back on my defected rear seat cover. Two weeks and still no answer. Getting kind of annoyed.
