Smittybuilt Hitch

I just purchased a Smittybuilt Hitch for my 2012 JKU Sahara. I needed something just for hauling my bike rack around. Got a great price at my local 4 Wheel Parts.

I had to remove bolts from the rear bumper to install the hitch. It took some time, but it installed perfectly and looks great. Make sure that the Jeep is cool, as your hands are right next to the muffler. Here are some pics. First one is the hitch. Next two are the bolts I had to remove from the bumper. Last one is the finished product.

Nice install. I also had to unbolt my rear bumper to access the pre-drilled holes for my Smitty Hitch install.

I gotta order one of those too....Did your Smitty's come with the wire harness?
I found one on the Xtream site that had the wire harness with it and I think it was less than a hundred bucks....
Good goin ! "BH"

I bought the Rugged Ridge hitch that looks identical. I did NOT remove the rear bumber. Clearance was very tight but I used one of those little telescoping magnet dealies to hold the nut in place while I got the bolt started. Once the bolt was started an open end wrench slid on and it was a breeze.
Mine came with the wiring harness as well. I think I found it on Amazon for around $90.

Thanks

I did not get the wiring harness - I got the hitch for $59. I am only going to use it for a bike rack right now - but down the line I might pick up the harness.
