Does anyone make a taillight lense that is darker than the stock ones. All I've found are LED. I'm not really interested in paying what they want for LED replacements but wanted a darker red lense.
Just put a couple thin coats of plasti-dip over them, the light goes through and they look black but are daylight visible without any issues. There are pictures in my build thread.
I just took a look and they look great. Are those the stock taillights you plastidipped? If so, are the taillights still visible when on or is it just the brake lights, turn signals? I want to try plastidipping mine after seeing yours but want to make sure the taillights will still be visible as well. Thank you!
Everything is visible, a thin coat of plastidip makes the tail lights black in appearance but light on the inside escapes with minimal loss. Just tape off the reverse light portion, spray the tail light with a couple coats, peel off the plastidip that is on the black plastic parts of the light and your set. I did the side markers too.
Lamin-x.com is another option. Not a tail light, but a film that goes over the lens. Darkens the look but lets almost all of the light pass through so you don't sacrifice safety.
I went with VHT Nightshades. Ran out of time yesterday so I didn't get the third brake light yet but it kinda helps show the difference. I like how they turned out.
