Snow on the soft top

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or experiences on this. About a month ago the DC area had record snow fall. Overnight we got around two feet of snow. My 2009 Wrangler w/soft top was parked outside, so when I came down in the morning it had a ton of snow on the roof. So much that the top actually was a little squished down. I removed all the snow, and everything looked pretty normal again. Now, I think this may be entirely my imagination at work, but I *think* it looks like the top might be stretched out a bit--like its not pulled quite as tightly. Also I *think* there may be more road noise.

So--am I nuts, or is it just part of my car getting older? Could a bunch of snow on the soft top once cause long-term problems? Anyone experience similar?

Thanks all for your input!

Well judging by the amount of snow that u had it is quite possible that the weight of it stretched it out.

I was outside during that storm every couple of hours all through the night clearing my top off. At one point while out driving I was getting a lot of wind noise. When I checked the top there was ice build up on my header. When I removed it the noise stopped.

I bought a hard top and purchased the soft top from the dealer and included it in the closing costs. No matter how much snow we get, I have no worries. I'm sold on the hard top and love using the soft top in the summer. It all has to do with function, cost and afordability. The jeep is going to be with me a very long time and I wanted to be comfortable all year round. Both tops met my requirements and 3 years of jeep ownership hasn't changed my mind. I'm still feeling that it was worth the money I spent.

i had a ton of snow on mine too and had the same worries but i have not noticed anything different about extra road noise or shape of the frame, etc. In future storms I will probably make an effort to go out and clear it off a few times instead of letting it build up.

The pile in the foreground to the left is my wife's Liberty. We ended up with 32". The light pole was knocked over by the plow. Now that the snow has melted it's laying on the ground, but it still lights up.
