so how are people buying at 3% below Invoice?

Yep, I see it here all the time but guess I'm not seeing how.
I'm buying a new Wrangler and am in the market for a properly priced used Wrangler as well so I'd like to save where I can on them.

I suspect a lot of the people, myself included, are getting great deals by ordering a Jeep rather than buying one off the lot. This makes a big difference because there is almost no cost to the dealership to order one they know is sold. A Jeep on the lot has already cost the dealer money and therefor there is less room to negotiate.

Another difference is when I ordered mine I spoke directly with the manager of the dealership. Effectively he doesn't have to be worried about paying out a full commission. He may keep something directly but I doubt it's close to full.

I paid $32,500 on a sticker of $36,775. Not bad IMO

I just paid 30000 on a sticker of 32820. Started with 1% below invoice through the affiliate program at my work. I still followed what most people did here by shopping multiple dealers. Asked them what they could do on an ordered jeep. The dealership I ended up buying from offered around 31000. They said they couldn't budge off of the affaire price so I left. Two days later they called me back.

I think knowing it can be done is half the battle.
Most dealerships will tell you they can't do it. They can, they just may not want to.
My last two JKS were both @3% under invoice. Bigger dealerships usually are easier. I do all my shopping via email. I present what I will pay, if they bite I will show up. If they backpedal I just leave. If they are serious they won't let you get far, especuially if they know you are shopping several dealers. I also agree with the post above about ordering out. Very little cost involved for the dealer. Some idiots have actually told me a "special" order is tighter on price.....not true.

Be confident, they know if you mean it or not. Good luck!

I got mine for 2% below invoice just by finding the JK on the lot that I wanted, loading up the TrueCar app, equipping the vehicle in TrueCar the same as the Jeep on the lot, got my guaranteed price and told the dealer, who actually doesn't officially participate in the program, "Here's what I'll pay, anything more and I'll head on down the road."

2 minutes later they started writing up the paperwork. No need to haggle, no need to try and figure out what to offer. TrueCar makes it pretty dang painless.

USAA TrueCar, Golden Ticket, and Military Discount got me 3.9% below FWP.

But not until I had contacted every dealer in the state via email.

My local dealer flat out told me he wasn't interested in going below FWP +2%. :jawdrop:
I ended up going with a dealer an hour from my home.

No problem.

Good luck!

Email only - pick specific vehicles to negotiate on and don't waiver from that jeep. Never walk in the front door until the deal is done. You'll have better luck with dealers that are further away. they realize you'd never buy from them unless you're getting a great deal, and you'd never just show up at their dealership to buy a car in person. They get a sale they know they'd never otherwise get - even if it's only a small margin.

I got 4.75 % under actual invoice doing this over about 2 weeks.

I also immediately let them know that Im basing my purchase on the best price under invoice. Let's them know the tricks aren't going to work on you.

You'll quickly weed out the dealers that aren't interested in selling.

Hail damage haha got mine for like 15% under invoice.

But yea good advice here...use email and don't put a timeframe on when you want to buy. Then you can take the time needed to negotiate at different dealers, takes a decent amount of work to get a great deal. Unless you know a guy who knows a guy.

bought month ago 2015 hydro JKU sport 24S with max tow package, track-loc diff, Uconnect, no soft top - sticker was $34915, paid $32700 and got stellar deal for my trade-in, basically reducing another $1000 off the deal.

Sent emails or IMs to about 20 dealers asking me if they would match a 5% under invoice (with Chrysler Affiliate discount) because I wanted to buy from a dealer closer to me. Most ignored me a few said "no thanks" and two said they would match or beat it a little.

The deal I went with was done with an Instant message, two emails and one phone call. Stopped by the dealer on a business trip, paid my deposit and jeep was ordered.

Two local dealers said "they were concerned I was being mislead"' lol. Concerned... Right!

Nice! That's the way to do it!

Just purchase a 2015 for 5.5% below invoice in Texas. I am in Florida and no local dealerships would match it. This was the easiest new vehicle purchase I have ever made. There was no negotiating, just a flat 5.5% below invoice. There is a thread about this, "5.5% below invoice in Texas".

Here is the way my price breakdown went:

MSRP $30590
Invoice $29287
Employee Pricing $27898
I paid $27752

They added back in to the $27752:
Dealer Inventory Tax: $62
FL Sales Tax: $1665
Documentary Fee: $125
Full Service Deputy Fee: $5
Application For FL Title: $77
TX Inspection Sticker: $28
FL License Fee: $46

I had to join Tread Lightly at the $100 level. This will get you 1% off through the Affiliate Rewards program.

If I would have been military I would have saved another $500.

The dealership paid for my taxi from the airport to the dealership, $75.

We are the enjoying our new JK and I am happy with the price I paid. In the end that is all that matters.

I'm the first to say, I don't know a lot about buying out of state at this point - but why would you need to pay a TX state inspection sticker if you are buying in FL? Also curious what the full service deputy fee is and dealer inventory tax. The rest seems in line with expectations I guess.

Here we have TTL (tag, title, license) and you pay that when you get your vehicle plate (license part of that). Usually there's a dealer doc fee as well paid into the total.
