So my baby is gone...

Well after a month of owning my first jeep I had to give it back to the dealer. Exactly 30 days after buying my '10 jk Unlimited the dealer called me and said they forgot to have me sign one form. I went back into the dealership only to find what I had thought I bought as a factory demo was a lemon Buyback which had problems towing and the prior owner complained enough to have it bought back by the company. The disclosure they wanted me to sign was supposed to be given at the time of sale and I was under the impression I was driving a vehicle with low manager miles. After arguing with them and leaving I was called back in the next day and given three options. Sign off and keep it. Have it bought back and walk. Or they would get me an '11 with same options at cost minus hold backs. This deal turned into a mess which I decided to just walk away. Now I have nothing am looking at lot more money for less than what I had. I'm pissed and just had to vent. I should call the attorney general and complain.

They "forgot" about that one little paper. Oopsie.

You aren't the first person to get hit by an unethical dealer. Sounds like you made the right decision. They were just hoping you were so in love with the car you wouldn't bear giving it back.

Good luck with your hunt for the next one.

Send a friend to the dealer to see if he can get the same deal: 30 days free use of a Jeep until the remember about that last pesky form.

Before I bought this I had a deal lined up for a new '10 loaded sahara. Nav, leather, the works, for 29900. This is with supplier discount of 1% under invoice. MSRP was 33600. Now I'm looking at 35500 for an '11 loaded. What happened????

Yeah I did get a month of free abandon with her! Did get her top and doors off but didn't hit the trails with her yet though. I should have beat the sheit out it those last few days. I did however put the pedal to the floor everytime I could just to prove to myself it was a slug. I can't believe how underpowered they are! Engine screamed while it crawled to like 70mph in like a mile! Lol

chef1231 can give you a better answer, but 2011 is a nicely freshened "new" model, with some pent-up demand (they sold fewer 09's and fewer than expected 10's, due to the economy). I doubt you can get a good deal on an '11 from anyone right now.

BUT there are some 10's left on the lots.

I know it was a dick move and childish but i couldn't help but crank the radio, turn on the wipers and leave the sound bar lights on when i left her. Hopefully they had a dead battery and once it was jumped were blasted out of the seat with the radio. I'm so pissed.

Truly bad situation but in the end I think you made the right call. Good luck on the search for your next Wrangler.

That's awesome!!! That'll teach em fo sho!!! Sorry dude, sounds like a real bummer, but at least you were able to walk away vs. having trouble down the line. I'm surprised they called you a month later and somebody didn't just sign that puppy for you.

You did the right thing by walking away. I've never understood why a dealer would buy a lemon/buyback at auction. It's not worth the $$ or the extra sale.
It is always a hassle and pisses off customers.

Sorry about your experience. you should be able to get a great deal on a remaining 2010 and pretty decent deal on a 2011. Should be able to be under invoice for sure on a 2011.

I knew Patrick would weigh on this one with just the right advice.

Jpinetti, I just bought a 2011 JK Unlimited from Patrick and couldn't be happier. I know you are in PA., but if you'd consider making a long distance deal in the Chicago suburbs, then call Patrick. His dealership is a huge, high volume well-respected dealer in this area. Moreover, Patrick is very knowledgeable and low-pressure. It's worth at least call if you're interested in getting into another jeep.

Thumbs up

Sorry to hear about your bad expierence. Do not let bad expierence make you feel that you do not want a Wrangler. They are great vehicles, as far as being underpowered, you could always buy a Dodge Challenger for that,,..llol

All brand of dealerships have scams like this. Find yourself another dealer , and see what you can do. I would also contact Chrysler's Headquarters, with this bad economy, maybe they could send you a check to make up some of the difference , towards another Wrangler. Chrysler has changed , I would not be surprised if you tell them your bad expierence , and write them as well on how you feel, it might be worth your time. Remember that it was the dealer that screwed you over, not Chrysler, so when you write the letter , put your hate on the dealer. I have done this before , and it worked out for the better. I wish you a lot of luck. Hoping you stick with the Wrangler Forum and family.

I can tell you exactly what happened. The salesperson lied, didn't want to tell you it was a buyback because he/she figured you wouldn't have bought it. His management probably didn't know you didn't sign the buyback disclosure and only figured it out when they went to book/recap the deal. It was then that they found out you didn't know it was a buyback and called.

Like Slim Snoopy said it's a dealership issue. Unfortunately, there isn't much you could have done different and I think you did what any of us would have done.

I know you had a deal on a new 2010 with leather, if you find one without leather keep in mind that the leather can be added after the fact. If I remember correctly the 2010s had Katzkin leather, and you can get that installed by a shop somewhere around you. We send some of our vehicles out to have Katzkin leather and heated seats installed.

Our cost on leather is $899 and heated seats are $295
Adding nav is a whole other story. That's probably cost prohibitive. The Uconnect nav is very expensive and I think you can get a much better system for less.

I would definitely meet you at Union Station. It's only a 30 minute drive from the store. PM me if serious.
