So what happens to a submerged Jeeps electronics?

So I have been making the JK bulletproof - the benefits of being single I guess, because no woman would put up with this crap

So the AEV snorkel went in - River Raider Breathers tying it all together to a single sealed air box. Rugs were torn out, herculiner installed. registration and owners manual? Yea big zip lock bag. I'm trying to cover all the bases.

So what happens when water reaches the dashboard, radio, engine computer systems etc - what do I need to look at to further harden the little beastie? Surely someone has sunk their JK and lived to tell the tale?

I got water up to the middle of the grill and it reset whether my horn beeps when I key fob lock it. I thought the horn was broke at first when it stopped beeping. Also my change oil light came on. I had only 500 miles since the last oil change. Lastly about 8 months later my wireless transponder reciever shorted out and left me stranded. The dealer said that was only the second one he's ever seen fail. Don't know if that little crossing was the cause or not. Any mechanics out there?

Talking

Just saying if u get water over the dash your jk is pretty much a total loss. All the electronics are just as susceptible to damage as say a dodge ram or a dodge mini van. Its not a submarine, it's a car. Go buy a Baja for the water. More fun and way cheaper.

Gotta say personally - Chadwick rocks. Trying to impress a beauty as I went a little to far down a slippery boat ramp. When I was in my twenties, I walked out in the water under a full moon full of love talking and well, slipped, fell, soaking wet. Chadwick rules. Lol

Personally, I'd go find a woman. Much more enjoyable than sinking your $30K Wrangler up to the dash! Learn from Chadwick's mistake though.

Yeah but they can be more expensive. If I were to ever sink my Jeep and fry it's electronics, my wife would never let me live it down!

If your really itching to take a Jeep swimming, I recommend buying a used older stripped down 2dr Jeep and a trailer. The new JKs have way to much electronics.

OK when did this become a search for a wife? lmfao - ok if there are any single women in the Boston area looking for a 6'5" guy in his mid 40's with a home, a shaved head, and a sense of humor, feel free to say hello - I promise not to drive us into a lake and lose my jeep for days on end. Fair? good?? egg-cellent smithers -

Im not itching to take anything swimming, just curious where my limits lie - I mean for the Jeep ha ha ahha

Where is JK's computer located?
I would think if you cross river or stream without stopping in it for fishing then you should have enough back pressure from the cabin air and bow wave to keep water away from reaching up to dashboard. I would think as long as your computer is sealed from water than you should be ok to cross it. Problems afterwards from other electronics getting wet is another story though.

...if you let the smoke out of it, the electronics system will quite working properly....

the Ultimate Nature of Silicon Electronics Lifeform is smoke....smoke and water don't mingle well....the more smoke you let out the worse it is for you....and just a tiny amount of smoke escaping may cause all the others in the Nanobot Electronic Workers Union to cease productive work...
