So, you just bought a brand bew jk and everything is STOCK!!!

What lift? How high?
What wheels? Brand + size
What tires? Brand + size

Please be as specific as possible. I just bought one and I feel like I'm driving around a graduation present for a 17 year old girl. I need to make some changes but I need ideas!!

Yo stock isn't all THAT bad lol! I am still stock other than 150 pounds worth of rock sliders/rocker panel armor. And my junior heep has crawled rocks along with the big boys!

What do you do with the Jeep? Rock crawling? Mall crawling? Puddle jumping? Mud bogging? The answer may vary depending what you do with it. Or do you just want it to look cool?

Advice unless you are going for the uber rock crawler deal - stay at 2.5 lift or under. This is enough to let you run 35s comfortably and not quite into the territory where you have to start messing with other things.

How to prepare my stock 2013 JK Sport

Sorry guys, but as a newb I am also looking for some ideas to 'macho-up' my first ever Wrangler.
And of course I will start some heavy terrain.
So do I need Tires 33" x 12.5"
Or will 35" do?
What lift do you advice?
In our country there are only 4 Jeeps... no kidding... So there is no shop experience, no dealers, no parts... I've got everything from Florida...

I would appreciate a detailed idea of what to buy for a first upgrade,
Thanks..

I live in Suriname, next to Brazil and French Guyana

Welcome from across a few ponds HenriSu! A 35 inch tire is bigger than a 33 inch one which roughly means you can drive over bigger stuff and not get some important piece underneath hung up on it. Whether you need either all depends what you want to do with the Jeep. What kind of terrain do you have there that you intend to wheel ?

Every WF noob is sentenced to reading until their eyes bleed. For real. If your eyes are not bleeding, you have not read nearly enough.

Had the lifted pickups when I was young. 3/4 ton Chevy with 4"suspension lift, 3" body lift and 36" tires. I could go through anything. BUT, I was always tightening loose things, re-adjusting things, etc. Now that I am older, I just want stock. Please don't misinterperate my post here, to each his own! Go for what you want, just don't look down on a stock JK (they are quite capable)

Don't feel bad southernhammer, I just traded in my TJ with 35's on a stock JK Sahara and my employees decided to give me a custom photo shopped screen saver of my new Jeep.

Ha! Pretty much! I let my eyes bleed from late Sept until late Jan of this year. In that time I think I started 2 threads. Now, I'm just beginning to learn and I know enough to be fairly dangerous (depending on who you ask).

I've learned A LOT from reading on these forums over the past few months. My best advice to a NEWB, do nothing until you understand your Jeep, and what you'll actually use it for.

Onto more bleeding...

Take your time building your Jeep. You have plenty of time to empty your wallet time and time again.

Read the stickies so you can have a good understanding of the reasoning behind suggestions that everyone gives you. We all have different preferences and you want to build your Jeep based on your needs and budget. If you are going off road try it in stock condition. It may surprise you how capable it is.

Stock has its advantages. It is the most reliable and warranty friendly state possible.

Tell me. I finally knew everything about my TJ I need to know and now I'm getting a JKU. I've been reading threads for hours everyday. I think I finally figured out what lift and tire combo I want. Now I need to start looking at brands...and gear ratios and manual or auto and bumpers and...

6" lift and 40's. Anything less and you are just a poser... wait.. or is that the other way around?

Get what you like. That is all that matters!

Just joined the Jeep Fam. 2013 Rubi all stock. The previous owner didn't add any modifications. I'll probably do something just to not be totally stock. I'm excited for the future.

There is a difference between an all stock rubi and an all stock sport. The tiny wheels and tires that come on a sport...I can understand wanting to get rid of fast. Especially on a JKU

I think he is referring to the base Sport. The wheels on your Sport S are the exact same size as the wheels on a Rubicon. Actually, prior to 2013, the Sport S and Rubicon used the same 5 spoke "Moab" rims, they just used different 32" tires.

The base Sport and it's 29" tires on steel rims looks like it is riding on 4 donuts.

There are a bunch of us on this forum that have gone with the 33x12.5x15 Duratracs and Level 8 Tracker wheels to get a more aggressive look. With this combo, not other mods needed for them to fit. Only thing to do after this mod is to drive and enjoy! Click image for larger version

LOL at the spammer. (You can't see it because they just caught the ban hammer!) Jeez, they used to at least copy wording from someone's reply instead of pulling it from the original post.
