Is this a pretty much guaranteed formula for this particular dealer?

A lot of math to consider
In summary, If I order a new Wrangler at Koons the final price would be 7% under invoice then another $500 off because I am retired from the military?

Erica also stopped talking to me in the middle of a deal! Then I started talking to Bill. Might as well be talking to a plant. Wow, could not answer anything I asked directly.
For the record, the Rubicon is also 7% under. Hard Rock is 5%.
I have a copy of a build sheet that confirms that.

I haven't received anything from jeep and I requested info over three weeks ago. Truecar also has not sent me any emails. Hmmmm

Correct.7% off most models, some are 5%.

"Jeep, Ram, Dodge products are 7% below invoice and Chrysler, Hard Rock, Altitude and High Altitude models are 5% below.

Exceptions: SRT8/Hellcat/Lifted (Custom) Wranglers"

Wish I would have saw this thread a week ago! Fortunately, it looks like I lucked out on pricing, even with buying it in the Bay Area. For my Sport with auto, hardtop, and A/C, Mojave Sand I paid $25k + $80 doc + TTL.

Echoing what Dave88 said, talk to Craig. Started the process 2 weeks ago with him, order went in yesterday and have a VIN today. Was pretty straight forward, signoff on what you want and give a deposit for the order.

I am with you with nothing from Jeep or Truecar, but I still have month until delivery. Heck I ordered a Quadratec catalog 2 months ago and still have not received it, they used to send me one every 2 weeks it felt .

Where are you folks finding web sites showing invoice pricing for Jeeps? I searched both Edmunds and NADA and drew a blank.

There are tons of car buying programs that will help you see price. TrueCar is good, but they will give your info to local dealerships who are willing to match the price and then those dealerships can call you nonstop. So, if you're not ready to commit, you don't want to go all the way with their process.

When I bought my 2013, I think I used the AMEX car buying service, which used TrueCar to generate price, but gave me dealer information without submitting to them, which I prefer because I don't like feeling harassed by salespeople.

Im just trying to wrap my head around on this with the invoice prices and all the precentages.

Do I have to use that invoice CD from amazon to get the actual invoice or can I use TrueCar? If I use truecar the estimate after the building is 36,262(the 'exceptional price', should I be using a higher number?)... Would I then be taking off another 7% from there because of the Sahara?

Then a possible 1k discount from TrueCar and another 500 possible from Jeep and then add all the fees.

Living in NJ the 7% discount doesnt even matter since the tax is 7%. So basically Im back up to around 37,007 with tax and tags/registration included.

Is that how this is supposed to work if I contact them?

I don't think anyone has received a truecar or jeep coupon lately. I've tried both with no luck. Build it on truecar, then it shows the invoice price. Then minus 7% and add taxes, dealer fees, registration, title, etc.
That's the deal to fight for. I've been trying for a while in Florida it's very difficult.

All i can recommend people on here if you are reading this post, find a fleet dealership, that means that make their $ in qty of cars sold not in individual sales, Fleet dealerships will usually get you price that is 7%--% below invoice, you can usually get a Rubicon 6k-7k off sticker. If you don't have a fleet dealership in your state, or don't want to go out of state to buy and the hassle, don't settle for anything les then 4k under Sticker price for rubicon trim, 3.5k for sahara, and 3k for sport, get those quotes on line, and have a solid email ready to blast all your dealerships in your area, don't provide your phone number because they give it off to a sales agent, try to buy directly from the fleet manager, or from the sales manager. anywho best quote i have got offered was 7k under sticker price in AZ for a rubicon hard rock, and in cali best so far i have been quoted was for 5k under invoice, shop around people don't settle, and order build don't settle for whats on the lot. for those in the east coast I don't know how your stealerships work out there so i cant comment on the prices, but they shouldn't vary that heavily. Get Tread light membership and start your negotiation.

So I have been researching "Dealer Invoice Price" and from what I have gathered, it doesn't sound like that is an actual invoice price (at least in the sense of what we consider invoice price).

When the internet became popular in the mid-late 90's, car dealers knew that they had to come up with ways to hide additional savings under the bottom line that we wouldn't be able to see at an "invoice" level. I'm still in the process of researching and vetting out my findings, but I think it's important to note that "Dealer Invoice Price" is not actually the price the dealer pays for the car (at least in the sense of what most people think of when they hear "invoice" price).

At the same time, I'm not saying a dealer shouldn't have the right to make money from selling, they have overhead, expenses and profits that need to be accounted for... but just be aware of this when negotiating. My .02

Awesome write-up!

I don't think anyone except a few people running a dealership will actually know the bottom line a vehicle costs a dealership.
There is invoice, then there are hold backs, then bonus's for selling X amount. And don't forget some companies will force dealerships to purchase other models that maybe don't sell as well as the models they want to buy.

Bottom line is, quit worrying about the dealer pays and just try to find a good deal with someone easy to do business with.

I've now received 5 mailers from Jeep, and not a single one had the ticket/coupon. Still no TrueCar either. I wouldn't hold your breath for either of these items.

Another satisfied Koons customer here! Awesome experience all around. I ordered last March and had my custom-ordered Hard Rock six weeks later (exactly when the salesman said it would arrive).

I already bought from Koons. I called the Customer Service line that deals with the "Golden Tickets" and she was a sweet girl, confirmed that it was just random, couldn't do anything etc. I signed everyone up in the house hoping at least one would come, no such luck though.

Koons Tyson hooked me up with the best price in the area. It took a few days to get a number we could agree on (IMHO - if you're doing it right, it should take a few days and some back-and-forth), but in the end they beat every dealer in the area by a lot. I got a 2016 Rubicon and the closest dealer within a 100 mile radius was $4K more expensive.

One thing to pay attention to is if you can find the exact same Jeep somewhere else, you can use that as leverage, and be sure to mention it. If you can't, they will know it and not be willing to work with you as much on the price.

I visited them and gave them a very low but some-what reasonable out-the-door price, fully aware that they probably wouldn't accept it ($2K under what I was willing to pay) -and that's the beginning of the negotiation process, walked out with no deal or counter (first sales guy was kind of a D). I then emailed Koons along with 50+ other dealers that night following my visit. In my email I said very clearly that the email was going to all dealers within a 100 mile radius, and the first dealer to give me the exact Jeep I want (described it in detail in terms of options) for the exact price (out the door including taxes/fees/warranty) will get my business. This certainly helped me get my price and a day later, we came to a number we could all live with - within my range.

Did you not go through the GP program at Koons through Craig Bennet? 7% below invoice, no hassle.

Bought a 24S JK/U in Rhino today from Heritage in Parkville, MD. Tried Koons, and dealt directly with Erica. She would only text vs voice and stopped responding whereas John Young (Sales Mgr @ Heritage) matched Koons and with no flakiness. I've bought over 60 new cars, and Koons didn't give me a good feeling that the deal was going to be written as negotiated. Heritage was straight forward, and even picked me up from ~70 miles away to close the deal and send a happy customer on my way. I found Koons on the Forum and started there, and it sounds like they've been great for a lot of customers. Just know that you can get the same great deal elsewhere and potentially closer to home.

I received the Max Care Lifetime Warranty at dealer cost. Not factoring that into the deal, overall I was closer to 10 - 12% below dealer invoice.

I could have probably saved even more if I pushed back even more and made someone's life hell, because in the sales person's email to me they mistakenly quoted/promised me a price that was $1K lesser than what they meant to (big typo if you ask me). As a result, I'm sure that I could have really pushed and made a big deal out of it, to get that price. But it wasn't worth the hassle or screwing over the sales guy I was working with...
