I am in SoCal also, HB Jeep and Cerritos were ridiculous to deal with and couldn't even come close. The closest dealer was Glen E Thomas in Long Beach where I live at about 6.5% below invoice which was still $1,200 higher than the Boise, ID dealer which happens to be the lowest price in the country it seems to me with no nonsense sales approaches. They have awesome reviews and and just want to volume sell and take care of their customers it seems to me! The dealership name is Dennis Dillon Dodge Jeep Chrysler. The whole process has been awesome so far and I expect once the Jeep comes in for delivery in a couple of months I expect that process to be painless as well. This will be my very first Jeep also so I am super excited for next year and to start the mods. This forum has been invaluable since I joined a couple of months ago and have been reading hours worth of knowledge. So I thank you all and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

I am giving Dennis Dillon a try right now as well! Order placed 12/20. So far, they have been super easy to work with!

Congrats

Another big one up there is Dave Smith. Never been there. All the dealers down here in So Cal think we are made of money.

Well I ordered mine for the wife yesterday from a dealer in Marietta Ga. (Dunno if i can say dealer names here) Winter Edition in XP with side airbags hardtop headliner 3.73 gears auto tranny 430 radio.... thought they gave me a fair deal and beat the VA dealer by 900 bucks. MSRP was 41,220 FWP "Invoice" was 38815 He took 5,681 off msrp which had me at 35,539. So after taxes and fees we agreed on the O.T.D price of 39,000 even. Had to fight a lil bit to get him there but i think he needed a sale.....the VA dealer wouldn't budge past there 6% below invoice. So i figured not a bad deal got close to 14% off msrp and a shade below 8% off invoice. I just couldn't find a better price anywhere. I'm sure if i went half way cross country i may have but by time i pay for transport fees or a plane ticket i just eat those costs up in travel.

Working on my build sheet but was wondering to play songs of an Iphone/Ipod ect (usb port). would I be best getting the connectivity pkg, radio 430 or both? or maybe even just getting an aftermarket? I couldn't careless about the Voice Command or navigation but definitely want to be able to play my songs.
Thanks

I am also researching for a future build so i dont have first hand experience, but from what ive found: you can play music no matter what thru the aux port. To play thru bluetooth you need the Connectivity Group and it will work with both the 130 and 430 radio.

If someone who knows from experience would like to confirm or correct this, please do.

Super stoked, ordered my Firecracker Red JKU Sahara yesterday from the VA dealer. I was working with another local dealer (not the one I had previously spoken about) and when I went in yesterday and asked if they could match the price the sales manager said what's the 6%, I said, it's off the invoice price. He said, you need to order this from them, that's a great deal! They could not come close to matching the price.

One of the guys I work with bought a JKU earlier this summer and he said the dealers really don't negotiate very much on the price of Wranglers. So glad I did my research and joined this forum and the garage forum, the information has been invaluable. Excited to follow the Jeep through the build. Thanks everyone!

Congrats on your new rig and on the great deal!! I too found the same experience in regards to price with local dealers here in TN nobody would touch the price of the VA dealer the Idaho dealer or the Ga dealer (where i got mine through) They all say they have hidden costs or something cuz they cant sell it for that... Even a good friend of mine who worked for fca said that the e.p or ffp is as low as they can ever sell them legally unless there just taking money outta there own pocket. My only guess is that they can afford to take less cuz there such high volume dealers and may get incentives from Chrysler for selling so many.... i dunno but as long as i get it for that otd price they quote me that's all that matters to me.

Thanks! Looks like when we pick her up we may hit up the Smithsonian, I've always wanted to go and since we'll be right there might as well.

Nice! Congrats!

Which Smithsonian are you planning? If I had my pick of any one of them, I'd go with the Udvar-Hazey Center out by Dulles Airport. The Air and Space museum downtown is crammed full but too small by far, while the UHC has room to grow and houses and SR-71 and a Space Shuttle Free entry but $15 to park IIRC.

I ordered my JKU from Koons about a week or so ago. the price was great even though they dropped it to 6%. I shopped the quote around dealers here in Colorado and no one was willing to come down on their price at all, a couple told me I should go with the offer from Koons because they couldn't compete with it. Koons said they expect delivery in about 4-5 weeks...Can't wait!!!

Does anyone know what the Jeep build times actually are right now? I think 4-5 weeks is really optomistic from everything I have read and my dealer stated 6-8 weeks. I have also read they are runnning behind and is about 8-10 weeks so anyone in the know have a closer time frame possibly? Thank you!

Koons said 4-5 weeks, but not guaranteed. From my understanding production starts up again Jan 9th.

Thanks! I'm so stoked!

Yes, The Air and Space museum, didn't realize there were 2 museum's. We also wanted to go through the automotive section, which I thought I read was in the Air and Space museum? I've got some research to do, ha! Husband said we saw the SR-71 when we lived in CA, I'll have to believe him, LOL.

You can get the 130 and use Aux. port.

I have the 130 and connectivity I can play music thru the bluetooth. I also play music on a memory stick via the USB port.

Koons told me they average 4-5 weeks as they are one of the largest Jeep dealers on the east coast by volume. My order is for a Big Bear edition which I read on other sites doesn't begin build until February, so I am anticipating longer than 4-5 wks. I'd assume with the holidays Jeep is also going to have build delays

Dumb question guys.. I bought a new 2015 and got rid of it WAY too quickly... Now I want to order a new one. Question is... I'm ordering a sahara with Navigation and a bunch of other stuff... is Connectivity really an option with nav? Could I really have Nav and no bluetooth?

I got the lucky dog today, a week or 2 ago I requested Wrangler brochures off Jeep.com and I received an emailed Golden Ticket today, $500 off purchase. I marked that I would be purchasing within a month. I figured it was worth a try!

Thank you Other_Eric for starting this thread!

I actually used a golden ticket from Ram when I purchased my Wrangler. At the time, I was also considering a 2500. The fine print said valid on any new vehicle from the CDJR family. I suppose you could request brochures from all 4 brands to increase your chances of receiving one.

Thanks to everyone for all the information contained in this thread. I also wanted to give Craig from Koons props as he was incredibly responsive and informative. I ultimately ordered from a local dealer today that made it worth it for me not to have to travel to Virginia. It wouldn't have been nearly as informed a process without all the help. Thanks again. On to the waiting room!

My Willys is now on the train and should arrive in about 10 days. Woo hoo!

Which brings me to my question: What should I expect when I do the final sit down with the dealer? Are they likely to try to upsell any additional products and/or services and if so, what would those be and should I consider them at certain price points?

I'm thinking they may want to sell an extended warranty. Given that I'm planning on keeping this one until the wheels fall off of it or me, maybe I should think about it. Could I pick it up later and if so at the same or better price?

Also, I got the Mopar EVTS option. Will they talk about the plans or is that something I have to go through Mopar's website to do? I don't see a lot of love for the EVTS on the Forum, but my last Wrangler was stolen and the first question the cop asked me was whether I had a tracking device in it (no). I don't want to go through that again.

I'm not really worried about high pressure sales tactics as my dealer's pretty laid back. Plus, it's easy just to say no and move on. Between the trade-in on what was left of my Wrangler when it was recovered, the insurance settlement and the cash I've been able to save up waiting for delivery, I'm putting down a pretty sizable down payment and want to keep my payments low. I'll be financing the loan through my credit union at the ridiculously low rate of 1.99%.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Fantastic topic, read from front to back gleaning as much as I could but I will be back for reference! Thanks to all contributors!

Going to be buying '17 JKU Rubicon HR or Recon in the next month depending on the Recon specs and pricing. This will be my first Jeep and something I have wanted for a long time, very excited!

Shooting for the 5% under invoice to lessen the chances of turbulence from the wife OK, to get a good deal too. I live in Oregon and have seen one local dealer listing $50k msrp HRs for ~$43.5k. Not sure what invoice price is for the options but they are pretty well loaded and I going to use that Navy Federal pricing tool I saw half a dozen pages back to see how it compares.

Thought I could stick to a 300 mile radius for contacting dealers but from what I'm reading I might have to travel farther if the dealers in that radius won't come down to a 5% off invoice deal. It might be worth it (we have no sales tax in OR, however), certainly would be a worthwhile adventure!

Hoping the Recon doesn't go too sideways from an appearance standpoint. I like the HR a lot and just recently found out I missed the HR build boat and that the Recon was replacing it. This after I spent a week and a half researching and building HRs on jeep.com *sigh* It'll be a few more weeks before I will make a purchase anyway so hopefully the Recon details will be out by then. Also means fewer available HRs on the lots so getting a deal on one of those could be a bit tougher (?)

I have received a few truecar $500 coupons and ordered brochures week before last. Only other thing I haven't done and am not sure whether I should do is get the $100 tread lightly membership, which will put me out at least 30 days. If I can stack that 1% on top of whatever I negotiate then I'd go for it, but it sounds like a lot of dealers won't apply it.

Looking forward to joining the Jeep family!

Welcome! Good luck with your build/quote, and I believe there's a dealer in Idaho that offers fantastic pricing, so you may need to go that route.

If you find a dealer close by willing to do the 5% off invoice, they won't stack the tread lightly discount with it - that one is only good for 1% off invoice as a starting point for pricing.

The Navy Fed tool will show you the side-by-side MSRP and Invoice prices for your build and each individual option, so you can wrap your head around the pricing.

I envy your lack of tax in Oregon. Here in VA, it's 3.5% at purchase and another 3% every year. I guess we gotta pay for those unused 6-lane highways in southern VA somehow, but very little of the tax money ever makes its way to road improvements in the populated areas of the state :\
