Soft/summer doors. . . anyone have these?

So I would really like some easy off summer doors for my '11 jk. Looking at either the Bestop 2 piece superdoors, or the Highrock element doors. Does anyone have any opinions of either of these?

Thanks :beerdrinking:

I ran the Bestop soft doors for years: Love them! Getting another set for my 02 soon. Summer or winter, didnt matter to me! You get more elbow room with the softies too. Very nice to be able to just toss 'em in the back and hit the trail doorless. Threat of rain: no problem! Highly recommend them!

I realy wanna get the soft doors too, how bad do they leak

Well, they do leak quite a bit sometimes.... They don't close like normal full doors. They blow open at the top when you are tooling down the highway at 65 in a rain storm! Going over the bridge near me, when it's windy: It used to scare the hell out of my wife cus the doors would blow WAY open at the top and rattle back and forth like it was a tornado! I love it! For the most part, they keep the elements at bay....But, again: they will *not* function as tight as normal hard doors.

I've got the Bestop 2-piece front doors (I have a 2-door) and they fit in the back without taking them apart if the back seat is out. Taken apart they will easily fit behind the back seat if it's folded up, and might even slide behind if the seat isn't folded, although they might stick up a little.

I was hoping to use these as daily doors but that won't be the case, they suck for my uses.
I drive 200+ miles per day and wanted soft doors for the chilly morns and crappy days in the spring summer fall and of course when it rains.
Well I've adjusted them to the best of my ability and they will not even come close to sealing any kind of water out from pouring right onto my dash, this is with a water hose.
They also pull out and flap like crazy at 55+mph no mater how much I bend them, they are just no good for highways, period. I would much rather just have the doors off completely, and that is what I will do, it will be quieter.
I guess what I will use them for is on days when working and door-less I will throw them in the back in case it does rain, at least it will be something when I am far away.
But as they are , for a daily driver no friggin way, they are so loud it's obnoxious.

I pretty much just ordered them to throw in the back of my Jeep in case it rains. I know they don't seal off perfect, but something is better than nothing IMO...

This is the only reason I want them right now, but at $500 for just the front set....

I'm currently scouring craigslist to find a used set someone just wants to unload. This will be my first Jeep summer so if I really find that I need them I'll just pony up the dough or wait until black Friday or something

I have a set of bestop soft doors, They leak a bit but isn't too bad. When I first got them I was a bit paranoid about them being sucked off the hinges by the wind when on the highway as they kind of get sucked out on the top near the rollbar. Usually I just unzip the drivers side window, and the passenger side (where my wife usually is) stays tight and doesn't leak.

Best part about having them is when it turns into a sunny day, I can just put them in the back of the jeep where I strap them to my rollbar (more to keep the honest people honest) and go around doorless. I still get paranoid about leaving them loose in the back of the jeep incase someone wants to walk off with them.

I had a set of these for my yj but I never really used them a few times and that thing leaked from every end so I wouldeb even know if it's from the door lol but could you many use like s bungee cord on the metal frame of the upper then to maby the roll cage to keep it from flapping?

They are ok in a storm....they do what they are designed to do: keep the elements (mostly)out of the interior. They are *nothing* like hard, full doors! They take some getting used to...once you do, you will hate anything else! I know I do....Can't wait to get another set and throw these full doors in the garage!

As others have said, the 2-piece soft doors take a LOT of bending and adjusting to achieve a decent seal. The folks at Bestop know this...and hopefully they will make some changes when they start producing them in the premium fabric. I now have mine so they seal very well and do not bend out at the top. You need to put the pins at the bottom of the uppers in a bench vice and carefully bend them so the upper is slanted in quite a ways. On a couple of my doors, I need to hold the top out when I close them, and pull on the handle or frame a little harder than I originally did to close them, but they no longer bend out at the top at higher speeds. Some folks have attached Velcro strips somewhere near the tops of the uppers.

I installed one door last night (had other stuff to do...like organizing my new tool cabinet). It fit pretty well, and required very little hinge adjustment. I'll have to make a trip to my parents' house to grab my vice so that I can bend the upper part of the door in to avoid the issues at high speed.

Overall, I was impressed with the quality - maybe I had low expectations, but they seem more solid than I was expecting.

Thats just it: From previous posts on this issue, it seems most folks expectations are a tad high, as compared to the nature of the product. They are there to keep you from being soaked in a storm, or frozen to your seat! They are not the same as hard, full doors! Have to laugh at some of the complaints about them....

Four door jeepsters: did any of you get these just for the front and either 1) leave the hard doors on the back or 2) just leave the back doors completely off? I am trying to decide if I should bother buying the back soft doors too (when I never have anyone back there).

I want to take my front 2 doors off as soon as possible, and it would be great to have a backup plan in case of rain, as opposed to having to lug the big doors back out/on (I live in a town house, not an end unit).

I'm in need of only the front set for now, as my car seat passengers in the back are not allowed to go door-less (thanks mom). Now that could change in a few years but something to worry about down the road. While I don't think a JKU with its back 2 doors off looks all that great, and while not naked maybe you could say "pasties" or "wet-t-shirt ish":)

Thats exactly what I did bro...each door in 2 pieces, threw em behind the seat. When they were on, I had a cable bike lock running between both halves, and around the sport bar, where it meets the windshield...some yahoo tried to make off with them one weekend, and my neighbor saw him and ran him off....he had them in his arms and dropped them on the ground! I also wrote my VIN number on the inside of the fabric as well.
