Soft top advice...New member HELP PLEASE!

I have a 2007 two door jeep wrangler jk. Someone slashed my soft top so I've found a 2012 model soft top for a cheap price. WILL IT FIT MY 2007 jeep. The dealers here say yes and say no. Can anyone give me the correct advice please. Also they keep mentioning HARDWARE what is that? Laymen's terms to a chick that is not savvy with all the jargon. Thank you.

The hardware consists of all those metal and plastic pieces that you use to mount the top to your jeep. A lot of people will sell the top and the frame separately. If they have the same model soft top as you and you still have the original hardware from your ripped top, you shouldn't have an issue.

In all honesty I don't know, but I wouldn't bet on it. I know that you will need to buy the 2012 door surrounds for it to work on your 07, but I don't know if the frames are interchangeable. For 07-10 they should work together, but around 2011-12 I think they change.

There is a sticky at the top of the forum HELP soft top (or something close). Check there and ask in that thread. You'll get your answer.

I believe the only change is in the rear window. The rear window for 2011-2014 is wider. I compared mine to my bro in law who has a 2009. The same hardware will fit, but the bigger rear window might give you a problem...

Good luck. Did the bastards slash the top or the windows?

I want to clarify:

You will have to get the hardware of the 2012 also. The frame and plastic parts that screw to your jeep. But I'm not sure how the bigger window will work on the rear. Maybe you can still use the old retainer (plastic piece under the rear window) with the new window...

Thank you everyone for your input. Joserubicon they slashed the back window, they destroyed the zipper and slashed the roof. To get it fixed would cost me approx $400+ so I can buy a 2009 soft top new for $250 or a 2012 soft top for $100. The $250 is in Melbourne though.

My other recommendation to you would be that you keep your doors unlocked. If you have a soft top you have zero security. Just don't keep anything valuable in the Jeep. You'd much rather have someone open your door and look around than slash your soft top to get in. Just my .02.

Hi thanks for that, but it was open. I just don't think they checked the doors. They just assumed or were just he'll bent on wrecking something and as my jeep stands out with the airbrushing, thought they'd go to town on it. Nothing was stolen or at least my CDs were still there....maybe they did not like my music! Little buggars.

If it's not too much trouble, for that cost you can buy the 2012. Install everything try using the old back window retainer on the new window and see what happens. If that doesn't work you can always sell that 2012 for same price you bought it or more and look for a 2007-2010. I don't know how many JKs are at your neck of the woods over here anything jk sells quick fortunately. This would be time consuming but would save some $$.

Quadratec sells replacement tops that will fit over your stock hardware. Not sure if they ship or how long it would take to ship to you...

This situation stinks. I run a softop in the summer and this is a nightmare.

Again best of luck.
