Thanks for the plug for my thread, Macavity! :)

Pauly,

Make sure you check out pages one and two. I posted a review written by Nuke83 which is a comparison of the standard and premium OEM tops vs. the trek top. It's a great write up, since it was written by a guy who actually owns all three tops. You get a REAL review rather than some marketing fluff piece. He really goes into the pros and cons.

Good luck!

Forget about "security"...We soft top Jeepers don't have any! Leave your Jeep unlocked all the time so they won't have to cut the top to get in. Course, some idiot will probably do that *anyway* but...you definitely cut down on the possibility of that happening if you leave it unlocked.

Yes that one looks nice probably jut as good as the Mopar but a little more than I wanted to spend. Is it really worth the extra $$ Maybe, what do you think Jcab?. Also does anyone know if a 2011 will fit a 2014? I see one on Craigslist for a good price.

Wow great post!! Thanks Mac and Starb. I have some reading to do. Too bad I didn't see this before I posted and yes I did do a search. Anyhow I'll keep you posted. Thanks again

I honestly think the twill is worth a few extra hundred dollars for several reasons.

It comes with a pretty comprehensive lifetime warranty.
It Has a true black color, opposed to the sail cloth that is off-black and I've seen some seriously faded sailcloths.
It is much thicker reducing road noise and providing more insulation.

I ended up shopping around online, found a cheaper price from a different site, and had quadratec price match it more me. Spend the extra more, it is an investment and just take care of it.

Any JK top will fit any JK. You just need to make sure that you get ALL the hardware that went with it, including the rollbar brackets. The parts must fit the year of the top, NOT the year of the jeep.

There was also a change in location of the header brackets, but you can easily modify the header to fit, with either a Dremel or a razor knife.

All this information is in the other thread. :)

Well, we went to check out a slightly used OEM top and tried putting it on to make sure everything was going to work, Well maybe it was because neither I nor the seller had ever actually put one of these on but... This s a major PITA!!

Even though he only wanted $450 for the thing and it was in good condition, I passed. I think I will just take off the two front pieces for now and maybe try a frame-less top one of these days. The other slight problem is, where to put the hard top when not in use. That thing is BIG!

Still appreciate all who've posted. To each his own. Thanks

If you have a place to mount it, a Hard Top Hoist is a great way to remove and store a hard top. If not there are some Carts that work pretty well.

If you decide to get a soft top let me know and I'll get you a quote!

If you use some velcro straps to hold the soft top "closed" when you're installing or removing it, it makes it MUCH easier. If it can flop around and open while you're moving it, yeah it sucks. Once the top has been up and down a few times and warmed up in the sun it loosens up and becomes a piece of cake.
