Soft top decision

So do I buy a Trektop NX or I have found a 2010 Mopar softtop with tinted windows. Was only on the jeep for a month so in perfect condition. He wants $500. Decisions?

It's definitely your preference, I like the original soft top, seems to be very easy to put on and take down, my .02.. good luck

Each has it's benefits and drawbacks. Both have to have windows removed but OEM is easier to store in Jeep. Wouldn't say that it is easier to raise and lower the OEM just because you do still have to remove the windows as not to wrinkle the windows badly. I really like the Safari top of the Trektop when the windows are out over the look of the OEM with just windows out. Some don't like the folded down bulge of the OEM but to me that is just a classic convertible look.

I really think it is just what you like best. But have to say the OEM seems to be more popular and that is an awesome price if all the hardware is there.

If I were you...The price point would swing me to OEM..but if it were just choice of preference versus cost Trektop NX hands down. If truly "like new OEM" .....get OEM.

I think I'd go with the Mopar at that price. I've been having the same debate with myself, but I think the Mopar's ability to fold completely away would seal the deal for me if the price was roughly the same.

Really depends on what you want and the look you are going for. There's a lot of threads around the NX. I had an OEM on my 2-door and while it did allow for easy on Jeep storage, it was still cumbersome, killed space when folded down and it offered fairly poor visibility.
When I my 2012 Unlimited, I knew I was going for an aftermarket top. Looked at a couple and decided to get the NX. After a very VERY painful initial install, I am pretty happy with the results. Great visibility out of the back, and the freedom top portion takes seconds to flip back. The safari ability is genius. Badass look too.
If I could change anything (besides the initial install woes), The tailgate bar for the rear window is very cheap. I ended up getting Mopar OEM tailgate bar and retainers... it's now perfect.

That's the Achilles heal of the NX is the tailgate bar from everyone that talks about them. The additional purchase of the OEM tailgate bar is an expense that puts it out of the realm of consideration now as far as I'm concerned. I'm seeing tons of lightly used OEM tops on CL for $500-700 which imo are a far better deal given the level of install woe related to the NX and the basically non-functional tailgate bar that comes with it - requiring the purchase of the $100 OEM part for sanity's sake.

What does the OEM bar do differently or better then the Bestop?

The NX tailgate bar has the bar retainers riveted to the bar itself. Whereas the OEM bar has separate retainers for the left and right side. The bar simply slides out when you want to remove the rear window. Retainers stay in place... no removal needed. If you have the NX bar, you have to take off everything, which is a pain in the ass. OEM has significantly better seals as well. All-in-all, I paid a little under $675 delivered for both the NX and OEM tailgate bar/retainers.

Jeepgirl... you got a good deal and will be very happy with the top. Enjoy!
