Soft top.. drip.. drip.. drip..

So the soft top is driving me nuts! It is dripping at the very front of the drivers side door and I am not really sure how to stop it. A bead of silicone somewhere? It is somehow making it through the actual seal around the door. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I had a problem with the windshield drip rail being down too low now allowing for the door seal to seal completly.... a little trim with a razor blade and no problems yet

Factory top?

When you're driving down the road at 50+ mph, and it's' raining, the water gets pushed up off your windshield. It goes to the top right and top left corners of the windshield.

Is this where your drip is?

There's a little fold right there you need to make sure is snug and tight. On newer ones, (08 maybe, certainly 09), they put a little square of foam in that corner to help seal it.

If its still under warranty take it in, my dealer has a guy that comes by once a week to take care of leak issues. I have to take mine in, it drips on the passenger side door.

Indeed. If you are going to work on it yourself, you might find this document helpful:

Nope - no longer under warranty.

Just pulled up the PDF on the leaks and I'm willing to be that I can fix it that way. It's right at the APillar as is shown. Damn it all!

Thanks for the info though guys - just have to find time to do this.

Anyone else already do it? How long did it take you?

Thanks!

I am in the same maddening boat as you CFonda. I wish the previous owner would have bothered to handle this situation under warranty.

Seriously - other than that, the previous owner took great care of mine. I don't mind TOO much tho, just carry a towel for now and throw it on the seat if it's raining and parked. If I'm driving it doesn't seem to do it.

Ah well - just gives me an excuse to work on it

Evidently the story of a jeep owner's life. One that still doesn't sway me about my decision to purchase a wrangler.

That water leak manual that Dubya posted is an amazingly helpful document that I wish I had known about weeks ago. From it I think I have determined the exact problem with my top, and that there is an official TSB in regards to it. I wonder what my chances are of getting Jeep/Chrysler to handle the issue a few months out of warranty as a "good faith" thing? Am I crazy?

NOPE. It is not unreasonable to expect a manufacturer to take care of an item just out of warranty. The local dealer may not do it but a call to chrysler may accomplish the seemingly unaccomplishable. They helped me on my wife's PT Cruiser that lost a motor mount a month out of warranty.
