I have a Bestop Supertop NX twill top. It works up, down and sun rider with the doors off. I'll drive top up , doors off and windows out just to get the sun off sometimes.
The factory soft top has absolutely nothing to do with the doors. I imagine aftermarket ones would be the same. I mean... if they needed to attach to the doors somehow... how could you get in and out of the Jeep?
That's what had me confused, so the surrounds don't actually help secure the tops? They just make them waterproof? I was worried about highway driving with the top up and doors off.
The surrounds have a clip for the factory soft top, near the middle of the top - it holds the frame in place so the sunrider feature can be flipped back and not affect the rest of the top..
The door surrounds connect to the roll bar on top with 2 screw knobs and sit in at the bottom of the b pillar.
Here's an pic (just found online)
