Soft Top on Roadtrip. Good Idea?

I'm going on a long road trip with my 2012 JKUS and am wondering if it's advisable to do so with the Soft Top? Will it be tolerable? Too Noisy?
First time jeeper, and haven't had the hard top off yet.
Let me know guys.
Thanks.

My wife took her TJ from St Louis to Pensacola, FL and back with the soft top and she was fine with it, no complaints. I drove it back and forth from here to StL several times with the top up and down and was also just fine with it. I'd imagine it all comes down to what you think is too much noise.

In July?

Try this: put on soft top. Drive on freeway for 10 mins. Decide.

With one of these? Yeah no worries. Now if you had a 1993 YJ with the OEM top, you might want to think twice.

No doubt that it will create more noise at highway speeds than hardtop, but it is definitely tolerable.

I've put alot of highway miles on with our soft top (2012 JK) with no issues, the only concern is Motel parking lots over night, not used to emptying everything out.

As long as you aren't in a really sketchy area and park in a well lit area, your chances of breakins are lower. As for the top on the highway, I love my hard top, but there is no way I'd go on a road trip in the Summer without my soft top. Especially If it is a vacation I want to put my top down on the way or when I get there. How far are you going? I regularly do 400 miles and it's not too bad with either top. My butt starts to hurt from sitting too long before noise starts to bother me

You'll have no problems, I do it all the time, I don't even have a hard top.

Thanks guys! Towing my motorcycle from Toronto, to Atlanta, then to Myrlte Beach and back. Was thinking maybe leave the hard top in Atlanta, but now I think I'll go all the way with the soft top. I will take your suggestion KBWWOLF and test ride around for a while. Just hasn't been warm enough to warrant pulling off the hard top. And I haven't built a stand to store it in my shed.
Cheers.

That sounds like an awesome trip to take with the top down; I did the same through CO

I have a friend that complains of her windows flapping at highway speeds, what with the wind and all. But she has half steel doors.
