Soft-top owner looking to add a hard-top

Hey all,

I have a 2010 Unlimited that came only with a soft-top. I am seriously thinking of getting a used hard-top, probably from Craigslist. My questions are, is there anything special should know before buying a used one? The seller of one I'm speaking to stated it will fit mine just fine and that he has the hardware I need. But before I go look at it, I simply wanted some feedback from some folks here.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. What is the purpose of the wiring harness? Is it for the wiper by chance?

Thanks

Yessir. You probably already have one (should come stock but I could be wrong). My 2000 tj came with one. Look in the back left corner.

check the weather stripping and look for any signs it leaked, probably hard to tell though. Whats the price difference between used and new? If the 2011's fit and the price isn't that much different I'd go with the 2011, the windows are bigger and the blind spots are reduced. Also, the 2011's are insulated better, much less noise.

I will check into that. But I bet the price difference will be 500/1000. The used ones are going for 1200/1400 on CL.

You're right, $2340 listed on mopar.com for the 2010

Maybe you could try finding someone buying a new jeep on here, who's getting just the soft top, and offer them the $1450 (invoice price) it will cost to get the dual top (throw in $50 profit for them) and you could get a new hard top for the price of a used one.
