Question Soft Top Pattern

Ok so I've checked all the forums I've found and done numerous net searches of every possible word combination and I'm wondering if anybody has or has seen and possibly has a link to a pattern for the soft top that would fit an 09 Wrangler 2 dr? That or does anybody know where I can buy just the top panel without buying the whole roof assembly for my soft top? My dealer swears up, down and sideways that it was in the two boxes they gave me but I am missing the top piece that goes overhead. I have all three windows. (Grrrrr @ stupid dealership not actually giving a *@^!).

Depending on if it's cheaper to make myself a new panel and replace the half zippers on the other three that would be my preference as it's a project I could work on throughout this winter.

Might need a link to a place to buy the parts anyway though, now that I think about it I haven't even checked to see if all the brackets, nuts and bolts are there.

Um, sorry I know I tend to ramble. Basically in short form I need either a link to buy or a pattern to make the top panel for a soft top.

I dont think you could make a softop very well no offense, they're made out of heavy material and layers that make it more quite it would be complicated to make

No offense taken, most people wouldn't begin to know how to. Luckily though if I find the right pattern I have experience working in these types of materials.

Thanks for the link but that site only sells the whole top or the hardware for it. I have the top already but it's missing the top vinyl panel.

The top deck, as we call it, is more than just the top panel. It includes a lot of zippers and flaps, the back "wings" or corners, with their reinforcements. The part that goes around the doors is very structured, with a plastic canard that holds it in place. The piece that connects to the windshield channel is pretty complicated as well. And so on.

It's quite a lot more than a panel. And we'd be pretty careful not to send out the patterns, I think.

We do sell something called the Replace-A-Top, which is the top deck, plus the window panels. But no hardware.

The Pavement Ends one suggested above is the same thing, but less expensive (for a reason).

You can also get this same item from Mopar.

Do you have the windshield channel? It would be unusual to have that, since it's "permanently" connected to the top fabric.

I don't think that's the answer you want. Sorry.

Not really, but it does tell me that I'm either going to have to start from scratch and create my own top or break down and buy a whole new one if the dealership can't find me that 3rd box. :S

Thanks for the information guys, I do appreciate it.

Ok, add me to the, CONFUSED LIST, too!

Did you recently buy your Jeep, and your Dealer was supposed to provide you with a Soft Top? Or, did you buy a Soft Top, and all you received were the Windows?

Just trying to clarify, so I can offer some suggestions as well.

Cheers!

Bought a jeep supposedly with the dual tops from the dealership but because it was previously owned they say that all the parts for the soft top are in the boxes that they gave me and they aren't responsible if somethings missing. I think I'm just going to go fight with them though, I checked through the framework last night and half of that's missing too so I'm thinking there must be another box or two sitting somewhere in there shop that they forgot about.

You don't have to buy your top from the dealer, there are a zillion online places that carry aftermarket tops and accessories for Jeeps. Bestop makes the tops for Mopar, so the quality is equal.

I did notice that, and several seem like decent prices. I was thinking more along the lines, before I opened the second box anyway, of just replacing what I thought was the only missing piece. Now that I see how many pieces are missing I'm going back to the dealer and telling them this is not acceptable and they need to find me the rest of my soft top.

Love the seat covers btw IG. Very nice work.

I'd go with California Tops, you dont need the frame for these and they serve as a full top and bikini top

I've heard very bad things about California tops service.... Idk if it's true or not, but if you were to consider that route, I'd check it out first...

I think the tops are good, but it takes forever and a day to get them, and the communication is lacking. But, like I said, that may be wrong. I suffer from CRS...

Thanks for the link, looks like I'll be buying something eventually. In the meantime I thing I'll do a little forum searching and see what people are saying about the different soft top vendors and their products.

NOOOOOOOT the way it's supposed to work! If they sold you a Dual Top, then a Dual Top you should have!

Shove a couple of Flintlock Pistols into your Bandoliers, and head over to the Dealer with your paperwork! This is the Fun Part! EVVVVVVVVERYBODY works for somebody! So, ask to see the Sales Manager first. They SHOULD make it right, and hook you up with a complete Soft Top.

If the Sales Manager blows you off, ask to see the Dealer Customer Rep. They should intervene, and help you get that Top.

If THAT doesn't work, ask to speak to the Dealership Manager. Your last two contacts, if the others won't help you, are the Dealership Owner and the Regional Representative.

ONE of those..... should get you that complete Soft Top Kit! They need to either provide you with a New Top, or order the pieces you're missing to complete your top.

If they can't or won't order the parts, tell them to cut you a check for the cost of a New Top, give them back the remnants of the old one, and go buy a New Soft Top elsewhere.

Poor Customer Service sticks in my craw! Give 'em Hell!

ALL HANDS!!! STAND BY ON THE PORT SIDE!!! FIRE AT WILL!!!

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

BB is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

When you go, take the boxes you were given with you and show them the contents and outline the pieces that are missing.

Yes, if you follow what BB said above, then pput up a good fight, you should end up with a complete top out of the deal. If not, continue on up, the BBB, and anyone else you can think of.

If it (heaven forbid) turns out that you have to buy a soft top, keep your eye on eBay, and the jeep forums. Sometimes people sell them and you can save a boatload of cash.

Good luck to you, and PLEASE keep us posted. I would like to see how it all works out for you. Wish I could go with you to the dealership - I'd go all "Angry Irish Woman" on 'em for you! (I'm a fat old, Irish lady with an attitude, I can be pretty scary when I have to be!)

I wish it where that simple. I've already been through to the owner of this particular Dealership and because I technically bought a "Used" vehicle even thought the previous owner had it less than a year and never opened the boxes for the bloody soft top they are saying that they (the dealership) are not responsible for this issue. The previous owner gave them 2 unopened boxes and that is what they gave me. They can't contact the previous owner to see if there are more pieces either because they have moved out of town and not left forwarding information. Next call is to Chrysler/Jeeps head office and see if I can get any better results but it's not looking promising. In the end I do believe it's going to be up to me to buy a new one from somewhere.

I almost feel that it might be more productive to repeatedly.

Triksy!

Ok, so you've made it to the Owner of the Dealership, and it was a No-Go. Is this a Jeep Dealership??? Does your Contract state, "DUAL TOP", "SOFT TOP", "HARD TOP", where they indicate what you were buying?

Referring to the 4 items above, let me see if I can help out a bit more.

First of all, my Jeep, is my 30th vehicle in 36 years. So, I've Bought, Traded & Sold vehicles with numerous Dealers over those years. With that said, here's what I can offer:

1 & 2. These are real simple! The Dealer ISSSSS the Previous Owner! When they accepted the 1st Owner's Trade of the Jeep, they sold Him/Her another Vehicle (most likely...), and the Dealership's Bank paid off the 1st Owner's Bank Loan, so that THEY... The Dealer... could legally sell it on their lot. So, technically, THEY are the Previous Owner! If your Contract shows you were buying a Dual Top Jeep, and they don't deliver, then they are in Breach of Contract. You can obtain a Lawyer to get your Tops. Granted, you may have to pay the Lawyer more than a Soft Top is worth, but I'd do it, if the Dealer is going to blow you off like that.

3. Give Chrysler/Jeep a call, and let us know what you find out. This can't just end here.

4. Instead of Banging YOUR Head over this, feel free to Bang the Dealer's Head! Be a Pain in their Arse! Be a Fly in the Ointment! Keep complaining to Chrysler/Jeep, the BBB, and any other way you can annoy the hell out of them, until you get what you were promised.

A friend of mine, years ago, was fed up with his Dealer for not following up on the "IOU" that they promised him. A Heavy Duty Tow Bumper. He kept getting blown off, told this and that, and after a month, he'd had enough. He had a friend (ME.....) tow his large Trailer to the Dealer after hours, and park it right at their entrance gate. The next morning when they opened, he was there with his Bumperless Truck. They asked him to immediately move the Trailer, or they'd call the Police. He told them he COULDN'T move it, because he didn't have a Tow Bumper. Within an hour..... he was getting one installed by the Dealer!

Sometimes, you have to be LOUD, to be HEARD!

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

Ok, so here's what I've found so far. Because my Bill of Sale doesn't specifically list the dual tops (because I bought used, they don't list this) the stealership isn't willing to do anything for me. I've yet to get a response from Jeep/Chrysler yet but I'm going under the assumption they are screening my calls, that are not yet at the daily point, and most likely also ignoring my emails. So as of now I will be looking at either creating my own top out of marine canvas or buying one. Just have to price the materials first and see which is more cost effective.

Oh and on a side point they are not a 5 star rated stealership so threatening with the BBB won't help. Already looked into this after I saw it on another thread, but they did loose my business and I will be advising anybody who asks not to shop there unless absolutely necessary and even then look into going elsewhere or ordering from a distance before signing anything.
