Soft Top Question

Hey all I'm new to the Jeep world and the Forum and love both already. I am having a familiar issue with the softtop/doors leaking water on the handles and into the floor of my new/used 2007 2 door X. I've read several older post about this problem and was wondering what has beed done to correct it, if any. My Jeep is currently at the Dealship and they are considering new door seals today, still waiting on the call. I'm sorry for beating a post to death but couldnt find any current feedback on this old issue. Thanks in advance for any help given!!!

New seals should fix it.

Thanks Tom, dealer advised the seal that runs along front windshield and laps over the edges is the problem. They showed me where the water was coming in and it looks like there on it. We will see Friday when the seal arrives and is installed.

Well seal installed and just got a chance to test it today. Passenger side is good to go, BUT the drivers side is another story! Appears to be leaking under the new seal that is riveted to the frame! Back to the dealer tomorrow!

Well in-between Saturday and Monday I hit a deer! Damage includes bumper, left front flare, lights, and fender well insert. While at dealer they are going to look at the seal on the drivers door. It looks like there is more "sealant" on the passengers side. Guess we will see later this week, will keep y'all posted.

That sucks. Did you at least get to keep the venison?

I've been having the same leak problem. I guess I better bring it to the dealer. Bgfire, keep me posted on your driver side leak.

i really don't like the idea of hitting a deer to solve a leak. There has got to be a better way.

I know, hitting the deer was not the best fix! Lol didn't get to keep the deer, not sure why I earned him. I'll keep ya posted on the dealers progress. They are going to start on the top Friday afternoon. It should be raining here so conditions are good.

i noticed on my door surrounds the foam is damaged. Crushed flat on the sides. I suspect this is not helping my leak. Going to see if the dealer will sell me the foam kit from the TSB and I will try and fix. I am also thinking of adding a new Trektop NK. That comes with door surrounds too. Not sure if they are meant to also work with a factory soft top though. I may need a new thread for that question.

Well still leaking after dealer cleaned seals and said I was good to go. So now they are calling in a leak specialist Tuesday that will try his luck. Get this, he is comming from 2 1/2 hours away! We came to an agreement that if it still leaks after this that alternative action would have to be taken. Not sure what it will include but dealer advised they would do what needs to be done to satisfy us. Guess we will see then, I'll keep ya'll posted.

It would take a 2012 JKU to satisfy me.

Mine has the same leak, has been to Dealer 4 times so far. They have a new door seal waiting for me at the moment, but I dont hold much hope. I keep pointing out that the little piece of foam that sits between the plastic surround and the corner peice of rubber riveted to the windscreen is squashed under the rubber. They tell me that wont cause it, yet that is right where it leaks... Will see!

There's foam on the door surrounds? Hmmm, I never noticed.

It IS the foam!!! My foam is all squished also! We put another piece of phone and it fixed the problem, i just need to find the same color foam thats on there because when i take the soft top off the foam shows and its a very light gray and looks stupid. But that is the problem!!!!

The part number for the foam kit containing the foam on the door surrounds is 68003645AB

I highly recommend looking at the JK Water Leaks Repair Manual. I have no idea why they won't make this document a sticky.
