Soft top recomendations

Just got my 2012 JKU with a hard top. I found out quickly that a lot of times I will leave the house with the top off. The wife says I need to have a soft top with me when she comes along in case of rain, hail, mosquitos, cold, fire and brimstone and frog rain

So question to you guys: Do I get the original soft top or is any after market third party contraption better? If so , why?

Thanks!!!!

^^ nothing beats the OEM
Look for a take off on Craigslist. Bought mine for $500. Sometimes people stick with the hardtop and sell the soft almost new.
The Bestop NX is also very close to OEM now. Bestop makes the factory top for jeep

I got my Bestop NX about a month or so ago. It was so worth the wait. All 3 windows zip out and roll up in a 6" PVC pipe I had. Cut it to measure 56 1/2" long and it fits perfect right behind the back seat on top of the wheel-well. Painted it with some spray on bedliner and drilled a few holes to let moisture out. Just make sure you get some felt on top of the windows so they don't scratch.

Great idea
Was given a window roll with my top but never used it cause it was sorta a PIA.

I just flop my rear down into the trunk area and toss the windows in the rear seat with fabric or something in-between.

Bestop makes the OEM tops. You can find a factory take off on CL or ebay or the for sale sections here pretty easy, especially with fall here... Get a top with the frame for ease of raising/lowering/transporting, and never look back. We have dual tops on our JK, but the hard top hasn't seen the Jeep in quite some time... Soft tops are just so much more flexible in terms of use.

Bestop Trektop NX. Great top. After the initial install, its a breeze to remove back Windows and flip back the sun rider for an open top.

I've got a brand new soft top in the box that came with my '11 Sahara that I have never used. Should fit a '12 just fine. We have the hard top and hoist if we want to go naked so we're going to sell it. PM me with an offer if interested.

Buy one quick so you can get in on any of the law "suite" (suit) action for leaking tops. I would think you could pay for the top and the "pain" experienced by your wife from having any form of outside moisture dripping on her or her possessions from the proceeds of such a suit. I know this post doesn't address your needs for info on a top but it might help you financially or to understand the issues at hand.
