Soft Top Removal 4-door

Hi All,

I have a 08 4-door unlimited JK.
I am not sure if I fold my soft top correctly and want to ask anybody for advice:
I certainly have read the User Manual and also BUT ANYWAY:

If I fold the soft down it still overlaps at the rear (=means it still sticks out at the end). On the photos of project-jk the folded soft top looks much smaller - is it because it is a 07 model?

Has anybody an image how it is supposed to look like when it is folded? My dealership said it is supposed to stick out a little bit at the end? Is that true.

I just want to learn if I am doing it right or if there's a trick?

Any input is appreciated.
Best regards

It will look the same way as on a TJ.

If you don't have this cover:

It will definitely stick out over the back a little. Just fold it as neatly as you can.

You have to fold it like an accordian...

When you drop it down, the canvas will catch on the roll bars. I don't have a picture handy, but that's probably what's happening. Here's what I do:

1. Drop the top all the way down and let if fall as it naturally wants to. It will most likely catch on the roll bars about 8" from where the bars meet the metal side/back of the body.
2. Lift up the very top piece (this is the bar that buckles to the top of the windshield) and reverse the fold that is just under it so it points out.
3. Then lift up the next "layer" and do the same.
4. Continue, alternating in/out and it should lay flat on the metal body of the jeep.

I found that every 10" (or so) there is a bend point along the side of the top, which allows for the the top to alternate in/out like an accordian. For some reason, when you just drop the top it starts in the wrong pattern and you have to reverse the pattern. That's what I found on mine anyway.

My top is up right now or I'd get pics for you. Hope this helps!
