Soft Top Roof Bow Recall

Has anyone had this recall done yet? I called my dealer and he said it would take ALL DAY. The letter from Chrysler says
1/2 hour if only the guards are needed and 1 1/2 hours if the top needs to be replaced. WTF? Are they trying to get business for their
car rental shop?

The only dealerships I have found worthless are Chrysler-Jeep dealerships.

I had mine done and had it back the same day. My top was fine, so they just installed 4 plastic pieces that snap over the bows. They are flat on the top so it minimizes the wear on the soft top itself. I would think the inspection would take longer to install those things. They look like the plastic bottoms of a ring pop

You can't get parts from the dealer and do it urself,,,and have the warrenty pay for it. The dealer has to do it.

I tired this with a hose that would take 2 mins. To replace. Nope I waited 2 hours only to find out they ordered the wrong hose!

Ya ,,, I was going ape shit in the service area!!!!!!

They didn't seem to give a shiet either.

True, but the repair kit costs less than a dollar from the dealer -- I know because I picked one up and installed myself in 10 minutes (to save the hassle that you described). I would still go to the dealer if your top shows wear or you have a pinhole -- they are supposed to give you a new top in this case.

Must be nice...

I made an appointment at the dealer that I bought from (about a 40 minute drive) to have mine done, but when I went to drop it off the 'service advisor' knew nothing about my recall

I explained to him what needed to be done and how long it should take re: the Chrysler bulletin, asked if he thought that would be enough time (to which he agreed), and suggested that I would come back in a couple of hours to pick it up.

My wife and I wandered around the local mall for a bit, went to visit some old friends for lunch, and went back to the dealer almost 3 hours later only to be told that they hadn't even looked at it yet

After waiting ANOTHER 2 hours for them to finish, the 'advisor' calls me over and tells me that I'm ready to go... no explanation about what his tech saw or did, just that my Jeep is ready to go.

And this is from one of the largest Jeep dealers in the area.

Well, I took mine in for the roof-bow recall. I called to make the appointment 4 days in advance. After waiting for an hour, they paged me to go back to service. The service manager told me that the kit was used by someone else and they would get one in the next day and call me to schedule the work. That was 5 days ago. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AT OLATHE DODGE/JEEP IN OLATHE, KS MY ADVICE, AVOID THIS POS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COST. THEIR FINANCE MANAGER IS A TOTAL A$$HOLE TOO.

I feel your pain. They did some of the recall the day after I got the Jeep. Then they called me the following week and I dropped the Jeep off, drove my wife to work, and ran some errands. I got a call 2 hours later that they didn't have any more parts in and I'll have to reschedule. I just got the recall fully done last Wednesday. It took them 3 visits to finally do the roof bows and the mirror recalls. This was Cherry Hill Jeep in NJ.

Cherry hill jeep I would stay away from them. I had to call them about 20 times in order for someone to tell me about the 2012 in any information I ended up having to talk to a general manager who said almost nothing and in the end I decided to go threw someone else.

Do they replace the entire top or just put a replacement piece on it? I have one that has never been opened.

So I've looked on line for this bulletin because I don't recall getting one in the mail. Does anyone have a link to it. Wanna make sure I read it before I try getting my jeep serviced.

I haven't seen a recall but I am on my 6th top (just the skin). The dealership opened the box on the 6th and found a hole. They are just as perplexed as I am! Talking to Chrysler now, My interior has been soaked since I took delivery on this 2011 wrangler. I'm also looking onto lemon law proceedings. I've had it

I found I had some L34 recall when I got my build sheet for my 2010. But they said nothing about the soft-top or a recall on that. Is there something to check on, or is it only specific ones.

Leaking Half Doors

I have a stock 2010 Unlimited Rubicon with Soft Top Half Doors. While driving speeds in excess of 50 mph the doors pull outward at the top allowing air, water and light to come through. The dealer has ordered a new top due to a recall. They also took pictures of the doors after spraying water on them. They leaked enough to recommend new doors. As for the gap at the top of the doors, they never drove it!

I'm sure others have had this problem. What was your course of action to correct this problem? Were their other recalls?

Thanks.

THEY DO NOT REPLACE EVERYTHING. Unless have holes in the top under the roof bows, they only install
the spacers. The idiots at my POS dealership has only replaced the top on about 10% of the recalls.
