Soft Top Windows: Clear vs Tinted.....

So here is the deal. The dealer goofed when they ordered my dual top group as I had previously mentioned and wrongly informed me that the "deep tint" was part of the dual top group, which clearly it isnt. So, my dual tops will look like I m riding around in a fish bowl.

The fact that I didnt pay for the "Deep Tint" option just reduces the value of my deal with them as it reduces the savings in the price difference from another dealer. Anyway, the dealer has agreed to tint my hard top windows but wont do anything about my soft top windows. I can accept that at this point, again, only because I didnt pay for the option.

So, I have a premium soft top with clear windows, but I want the tinted windows. Any swappers out there? The box that has the windows is actually labeled "Bestop" so clearly they are the factory window supplier. Does anyone know if the Tinted windows from Quadratec match the quality of the premium soft top?

Thanks for any input. By the way, it's almost a week old, love it, love it, love it!

Not to hijack the thread but I have a 2013 unlimited rubicon that is due to arrive next Friday. Since the deep tint is standard on the rubicon unlimited, and i got the dual top group, does that mean both tops will have the tinted windows? If you build a 2 door online it requires deep tint when selecting the premium top.

My understanding, which has been wrong, or misled before, is that the models above the sport (Sahara, Rubicon, MOAB) include the deep tint.

OP, I think I would get on the phone with Bestop and see what they have to say. You might be able to work out a swap with them with minimal compensation.

I don't see that happening. I bought a set of Bestop tinted soft top windows. They are much thinner and lighter than my factory clear windows.

I had called Quadratec Saturday afternoon and they said that the tinted windows they sold were not the premium soft top windows, like daggo had mentioned. They used to sell them but dont anymore.

Our Bestop window kits will fit the factory tops. That will overall be your best bet. Pm if you need anymore info on them.

Thanks Morris, yes I m aware of the existing windows from Bestop that will fit, I m just trying to maintain the "premium" top quality. Should I fail at all approaches, I havent decided what to do yet.

Have you checked eBay?

When my window was slashed I immediately found a replacement brand new OEM Mopar tinted window on eBay for $100.

Yep, and craigslist... the issue is not that I cant find tinted windows, the issue is finding tinted "premium" windows. The difference is the thickness of the fabrics and window plastics, which goes a long way to reducing noise.

Bestop says that the only place I can get these windows is from a dealer. Ive priced them, and even at cost... huge bucks. So, we'll see.

The "premium" top material and quality are the same as on the Bestop "Black Twill" - exactly. So you should be able to get those from Bestop. Did you speak to Bestop or to a reseller? Here is piece of a message I got from Bestop regarding the materials a while back.

The Mopar premium top is equivalent to our Supertop NX in Black Twill. The fabric is the same, but the hardware has some differences.

On the other hand, the Supertop NX Black Twill is no cheaper than the Mopar top, so I doubt you are going to get much of a break on the windows over the dealer. Some dealers on the web don't rip you off as bad as your own might, so you should do some checking.

There are options out there for me. I think what I m gonna do first is see what I can do with the windows I have. Should that not work, I may press the dealer (because this is their goof up) for at cost premium soft top windows (but, I already know even their cost it high, probably around $550 - $600), and, I have not ruled out just getting a set from Bestop for less than #300.

The dealer did have my hard top tinted at their cost because of the mess up, but they have been very resistant to do anything for me with the soft top windows. Because of the goof up, I did not pay for the "deep tint" option, because they didnt order it, that said....... well, you know.

Overall, I will say the dealer has tried, somewhat, to make it a little better for me, but this, and a couple other issues sully's up what seem like a great deal to a "just ok" deal.

IMO, People say that the premium and regular soft top have a huge difference in outside noise. I highly disagree. I had a 2013 wrangler with the premium top for 6 months and traded it in yesterday for a 2013 freedom edition with the regular top. I have noticed absolutely no difference in the amount of road noise. I honestly have no idea what people are talking about.

All Bestop windows are the same quality. From factory to twill.

There is a distinct difference in weight and thickness between my factory clear windows and my Bestop tinted windows.
